Pain/fever relief: It can take a few days for an antibiotic to clear an ear infection enough to reduce the pain and fever. I would recommend acetaminophen or ibuprofen to control these symptoms in the meantime. No ma'am: Amoxicillin is similar to penicillin, but is slightly more broad, meaning that it kills a few more species of bacteria than penicillin. Depends : U are on doxy which is not used for suspected streptococcal infection. However if ur symptoms are better then u may as well finish the course. If not , or getting worse u shd switch to amoxicillin. Most physicians wld not treat streptococcal type C and if symptoms were mild enough wld have treated u with gargles and Tylenol (acetaminophen).
