Do I need home nursing car to take care of my foot stump after my operation?

Do I need home nursing car to take care of my foot stump after my operation?

HH Nurse: Your residual limb issue is an important one. You will require some level of assistance in the home. Those needs require determination before you leave the hospital. Separate those needs into two categories: your activities of daily living (eating, toileting, dressing, etc); and the care of your residual limb (nursing, physician, therapist). If there is wound care, then a hh should be involved. ...Read more

Hello I am having bunion surgery on the 10 of next month will I get crunches at the hospital or do I need to buy them before hand?

Hello I am having bunion surgery on the 10 of next month will I get crunches at the hospital or do I need to buy them before hand?

Ask hospital / docto: You can always call the hospital or doctor's office (whoever is going to perform the procedure) to pose your question. We don't know what hospital you'll be going to, so I think you'll find we hesitate to answer for them. Most hospitals will provide crutches if needed. But your doctor and/or the hospital staff will know for sure. Calll them up - they are there to help answer specific questions. ...Read more

I had herniated disk surgery. My surgeon said I could go back to work in 3 weeks. I am a nurse aide at a nursing home. Is this a reasonable time .

Discuss with surgeon: Everybody is different in terms of rehab from such a surgery. It also depends upon the relative complexity of the procedure, any complications encountered, progress of patient through rehab, etc. If you are concerned about this time frame or the work you would be going back to then, I would discuss things with both your PMD as well as the surgeon. Make docs fully aware of your job duties. ...Read more

What can I expect from my first orthopedic appt. Tomorrow for my knee? Will they require surgery on same day? Will I have to use crutches?

What can I expect from my first orthopedic appt. Tomorrow for my knee? Will they require surgery on same day? Will I have to use crutches?

No same day surg: Very unusual to have surgery on your knee at a first appointment unless you have an infection or a traumatic open joint.. Rarely would recommend same day surgery if the knee is "locked" from a on reduceable displaced meniscus tear. The doc will ask you questions, exam your knee and probably take some x-rays. Specical tests may be ordered like a MRI or blood tests. Relax! ...Read more

Preparing to leave for monthlong tour of india when I broke my foot. What should I do? 16

Which bone?: X-rays would be helpful to determine the location of the fracture. Some fractures can be treated simply with a wooden/surgical shoe which acts as a splint and limits bending upon weight-bearing. A cam walker is a removable cast which allows you to bathe normally. More severe fractures may require crutches or surgical intervention. ...Read more

I had knee surgery on both knees back in 2004 from a car accident, i haven't completely healed from it, what can I do do I need to take out the pins for better use of my legs?

Orthopedics: I'm sure your situation is far too complex for a simple answer. Get a couple of opinions from different orthopedic docs. It depends what you mean by "healed". If you still have chronic open wounds that is almost certainly a chronic infection. If you mean you aren't back to pre-crash function then you may be as good as it is going to get. ...Read more

I had surgery on my ankle 10 days ago, the stitches have bled through a bandage around my foot? I have been take cefalexin and Heprin? Should I be con

Treat and be seen.: Wounds will bleed and bandages will become saturated.......but, ten days is a little too long to be having this issue. If you can't get in to see the surgeon today, you will need to reinforce the bandage with new bandages. Keep the foot elevated higher than your heart as much as you can. Stay off of it until you can be seen. Try a little more compression with the new reinforced bandage. ...Read more

Mrs. Rose is a hospice patient in the nursing home. She has gangrene of her foot. What can she do to cure it?

It depends: Depending on her current health status, whether the gangrene is wet/dry, if there is neuropathy (which may spare the patient pain), and prognosis are to all be considered. Hospice care is palliative in nature, so if intervention for the gangrene is to be considered, a change in her hospice status is necessary. ...Read more

Do caregivers get legal rights if they are the sole relationship a nursing home attendant has?

Probably not: Your first legal obligation is to your employer. You might feel you have an ethical or moral obligation to the nursing home patient you can for, but that gives you no legal rights since you are not related by marriage or other kinship. You would probably have to go court to be granted any legal right like guardianship or conservatorship. ...Read more

I had an operation for hip replacement and i got muscles problem cause pain in my foot and and not function properly or Failure after intramuscular.

Varies: The whole question did not come through. If you are having pain running down your leg into your foot after a hip replacement, it would usually either be related to an irritation if a nerve in the back, or that same nerve can also potentially be stretched during your hip replacement. I would discuss directly with your surgeon. ...Read more
