Also ask to see a nutritionist to be sure you're actually eating properly. There is not any reason that I can think of that would cause weight gain just because you are now sexually active, unless we are talking about a pregnancy. Carbs: Usually, carbohydrates are the culprit. See if you carbs are too high in your diet. Count calories and exercise more to burn off more calories than you take in. Treated?: If your thyroid hormone treatment has your TSH in the normal range (for primary thyroid disease, like hashimoto's), then your weight gain cannot be attributed to your hypothyroidism as the medication is doing it's job. Hang in there: The answer to your question relates to the balance between calories taken in and used. When exercising, some people feel more hungry (or feel entitled to eat a lot more) and gain a bit. But to stay at present weight or lose some pounds, one needs to maintain a constant intake while engaging in the exercise program. Also one needs to remember that muscle weighs more than fat.
