I prescribe it: There are many options for constipation in pregnancy. First involves making sure you are taking enough water and fiber in your diet. Metamucil or fibercon can be used in addition to natural sources of fiber. Colace twice daily often helps as well. Yes: It's basically just sugar and aspartame (nutrasweet). As long as you don't have phenyketonuria, you can take it. I am not a fan of aspartame anytime, and i think it's especially important to avoid as many artificial chemicals during pregnancy as possible, so i wouldn't recommend nauzene.
