The reason is metal is an excellent conductor of hot and cold and an amalgam filling is metal. However, the sensitivity to temperature normally goes away after awhile (4-8 weeks). Be patient. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
Pain months after root canal.did an X-ray and it was short filled. Tooth is sensitive to hot cold and sweet. What to do?
Yes it is possible: If the tooth had a deep "cavity" that needed to be filled, the filling may be very close to the nerve. This may cause some sensitivity. It is also possible that your filling is a little "high" and needs to be adjusted. On and off sensitivity is always possible with a new filling. If you do not have decrease in symptoms in a week or two or it gets worse, contact your dentist for further evaluation. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I've noticed an increase in migraines. When I move from a cold room to hot outdoors, hard alcohol, cold weather, stress & humidity. Ideas?

See below: Increased blood flow to theses "extremity areas" is likely the cause. As long as there is no pain, this is natural (to an extent) so to keep these areas from loosing blood flow (cold can do this) and thus decreasing oxygen to the tissues, where, if without, tissues metabolism slows and if it stops, tissues can die. His response may be slightly exaggerated but, without pain, i would not worry. ...Read more
Why patients feel sensitivity suddenly after breakage of front less than half tooth and after a day sensitivity starts to go?
Broken tooth infect: A healthy tooth has a nerve inside of it and when the tooth breaks, the nerve becomes exposed and can be quite painful. As the time of the exposure continues, the internal portion of the tooth, the pulp, dies and the pain may subside. But don't be fooled, it is not ok! serious infection will ensue. 6/f/3p26.3 duplication (GDD, small stature). Unusually cold, sore, red, swollen hands in cold weather. Not improved upon warming near heater 30mins.
Not enough cases: I found only 2 other cases reported of a duplication of 3p26.3. One is from New Zeland. She sounds like she could use heated mittens in the cold--available at ski shops. Impossible to say whether it is related to the duplication. You could contact the authors of this publication--I'm sure that they would be fascinated to see her. http://www.hindawi.com/journals/crig/2014/295359/ ...Read more
