I have not seen it: True allergic reactions to sudafed are rare. More commonly people will not tolerate the drug effects of the medication. This can include heart racing, elevated blood pressure, sleeplessness, feeling jittery. This medication can case problems with an enlarged prostate and certain kinds of glaucoma. Allergies occur when your immune system is triggered by envirionmental factors it should ignore--for example, pollen in the air, or dander on a cat or dog--and creates cells to fight against them. An allergic reaction typically causes itching, congestion, or drainage, and ...Read more

If i've conjunctivitis allergy, can it heal by allergy injection therapy ?Tried allergy meds : allegysal, patanol (olopatadine) and avil, Claritin loratadine, please help

Yes: Treatment of allergic conjunctivitis starts with eliminating or avoiding the allergen as well as rinsing the allergen from your eyes with plain water (reduces the allergen load). Allergy shots can help as can oral allergy meds. There are eye drops that help a great deal also. Steroid eye drops are very effective but are not used long term due to risk of glaucoma and cataract. ...Read more

Will Claritin (loratadine) allergy controller stop or at least help with allergy rash?

Will Claritin (loratadine) allergy controller stop or at least help with allergy rash?

Depends: The term "allergy rash" is non-specific. If it is poisen ivy or ecxema, a rash characterized by dry, scaly patches where itchiness is a major symptom then antihistamines such as Claritin or Benadryl (diphenhydramine) may be helpful. Zyrtec, in my experience, is actually better for itchiness. In more severe cases, topical or oral corticosteroids may have to be used. ...Read more

What's best for allergic cough-oxomemazine, cetirizine, loratidine or fexofenadine?

What's best for allergic cough-oxomemazine, cetirizine, loratidine or fexofenadine?

Post-nasal drips?: If the cough is from post-nasal drips , then I prefer using cetirizine or fexofenadine. A better option would be a nasal steroid. However if the cough is from a sinus infection, you may then need an antibiotic; from asthma, you will need asthma medications. Best to see a doctor. ...Read more

Need alternative to zirtec for allergy-induced asthma. Allegra and Benadryl (diphenhydramine) don't work, nor albuterol asthma inhalars. Claritin gives me nasal pain.

Allergic help: You will definitely need to speak with your physician about this. Other alternatives include the short acting chlorphenamine (chlortrimetron), sold over the counter. There are prescription medications - xyzal, singulair, xopenex, (levalbuterol) Flonase and more. Ultimately - make sure you speak with your physician about this, since the medications you have tried so far are not providing relief for you. ...Read more

Reaction to sux: In terms of allergy in the usual sense, it may not exist with succinylcholine. How effective is clonidine (Catapres) for treating complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS)?

How effective is clonidine (Catapres) for treating complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS)?

Catapres (clonidine) & CRPS: If your blood pressure is normal, you won't be able to handle even 0.1mg of catapres (clonidine). Will make you feel lethargic since it lowers blood pressure. This is the negative which I have thus far seen in my CRPS population. However, for the ones in whom it works, it is a great SEVEN DAYS time released neuropathic pain patch. Is catapres (clonidine) safe to lower bp?

To a degree: All medications are not without risk but this one is often used to lower blood pressures that can be difficult to maintain at appropriate levels or those that need to be lowered from dangerous highs. It can cause rebound hypertension, however, meaning that if you are not taking it consistently it can cause your pressure to go even higher. It is not a common first-line treatment for this reason. ...Read more
