Can wearing eyeglasses cause my eyelids to look puffy?

Can wearing eyeglasses cause my eyelids to look puffy?

Maybe: Certain prescriptions of glasses, often for large amounts of far-sightedness, can magnify the appearance of the eyes and structures around the eyes, like the eyelids. I do not recall a patient ever specifically saying that their glasses made their eyelids look "puffy", though. ...Read more

Can not wearing your glasses cause a droopy eyelid? I have glasses but don't have to wear them all the time. Never had this problem just notice it.

Not likely: Your lids could look droopy if you chronically squint to see better, but should not be permanent. Check with your glasses on and see if the drooping disappears.
If your lids really are droopy, check some old pictures. If there is a change, or if they get more droopy when you are tired, it would be worth having an ophthalmologist see if it is anything that needs treating. ...Read more

Take a look at her: There are many reasons for lowered vision which her ophthalmologist can discover. Drooping lids can interfere with vision if they fall over the lash line. Does she need to lift her head up to see, or can you see the pupil from a straight on gaze. If there is obstruction, then lifting the lids will clear the vision (try taping them up). Otherwise there is another issue. ...Read more

I tend to open my eyes wide when wearing contact lenses, which causes some eye fatigue. Is this normal? Should I consciously close up my eyelids a bit as if I am wearing glasses?

I tend to open my eyes wide when wearing contact lenses, which causes some eye fatigue. Is this normal? Should I consciously close up my eyelids a bit as if I am wearing glasses?

It is common: To open your eyes wider while wearing contact lenses, especially while getting use to them. If your eyes are becoming fatigued while wearing contact lens, you should decrease the amount of time that you are wearing them, in order to allow your eyes to adapt. Try wearing the contacts for only 4 hours/day for a few days, if your eyes do not feel fatigued, gradually increase the number of hours/day ...Read more

Could needing glasses cause lightheadedness 24/7 with swaying for 6 years my eye dr tells me no but people tell me different?

How can I improve eye vision without LASIK I have glasses but only for far away I can use them cause I see perfect close up?

Ago old quest: People have been trying to reverse the need for glasses with exercises, diet and other methods. None of them work. To improve your distance vision (as you are myopic) you will need proper glasses, contact lenses, LASIK, PRK or some other mechanical refractive type manipulation or surgery as no other method will work. ...Read more

What causes eye pain? Lately I have been experiencing eye pain in both eyes. I also wear glasses.

Many causes: There are many causes of eye pain. Only an eye exam can determine the cause and plan for treatment. Eyestrain is usually an aching around or over the eyes. Inflammation in the eyes causes pain and light sensitivity. Corneal pain also has a sensation that something is in the eye usually. Headaches and sinus pain may be referred to the ocular area. The list goes on and on. ...Read more

My right contact lens after a week causes slight blurriness and eye irritation. This remains with glasses on. What causes 1 lens to always wear faster?

Wrong assumption.: There is probably nothing wrong with the contact lens itself. There may be a problem with the fit in that eye or perhaps that eye is more dry and becomes contact lens intolerant sooner. Modern contact lens technology is amazingly consistent. Eyes not so much. ...Read more

Can allergies cause glasses to take longer to adjust? Been having facial & eye pain w/ headache throughout the day. Nt sure if it's my glasses

Probable: Allergies can cause headaches and if the eyes are involved, blurred vision may result. Eye pain is more common with dry eyes than allergic eyes. Given that you have asthma as well, I think an allergy consult may be worthwhile to help you sort this out. ...Read more

After several eye exams, floaters showed up the very next day. Did eye exams cause the floaters? Docs said they showed because I wear -0.75 glasses?

Floaters: Hello. The floaters were not caused by your eye examination. Floaters are a common issue for people of many age groups, both younger and older. Most times, they are caused by a natural breakdown in the vitreous ("jelly") in the eye.

Sometimes, the can occur in people who play sports such as soccer, basketball, etc. Or if a person has gotten hit in the eye even by accident.

3 months ago started seeing a little blurry with the periphery ofmy right eye. I've dry eyes, TMJ & read too much w/o glasses. Could that be the cause?

Hard to say: Blurry vision can have a lot of causes. The most important thing for you to do is get checked. Wear you glasses more till then, and use your drops. But it might be serious and we cannot replace eyes yet! Don't take chances, please. Some meds (over the counter and prescription) can cause blurry vision. Read labels. Certainly, if it worsens, or you have pain, severe headaches get to an ER ...Read more

What type of neurological condition can cause blurry/dim vision? Had 6 eye exams all normal? Like I'm wearing glasses that are way too strong.

Dry eyes?: You may have dry eyes which may be helped with artificial tear. Your eye exam may be normal since eye drops are often used to dilate your pupil or numb your cornea thereby providing some liquid to your eyes. Be sure that you are seen by an ophthalmologist and not an optician. ...Read more

Would needing glasses cause of astigmatism cause u to have a weird lightheaded feeling n swaying at time 6 yrs 24/7 my eye dr says no anx cause funny?

Probably not a cause: The need for astigmatism correction will not cause any symptom except blurred vision. WEARING the correction in glasses is another issue. People can get a lightheaded or swimming sensation and possibly distortion of vision with certain types of glasses prescriptions. These symptoms might also be dependent on how the glasses are made (centration, curvature). Contact lenses minimize these symptoms. ...Read more

Can myopia in one eye cause a slight sleepy eye, like a misalignment of one eye compared to the other? If yes, can glasses, and so on fix it?

Can myopia in one eye cause a slight sleepy eye, like a misalignment of one eye compared to the other? If yes, can glasses, and so on fix it?

Relative fixes: A 20 year old is beyond the age of visual system plasticity, generally ending around 8 years old. Glasses may help your "sleepy eye" or "lazy eye" better known as amblyopia, visualize better. Optimal vision in the amblyopic eye will help it fuse with the better-seeing eye, reducing drift in (crossed-eyes) or out (wall-eye). Glasses will protect your eyes from injury, so choose safety glasses. ...Read more

Night glares+starbursts worsened even after using artificial tears. Anti-glare glasses - no help. Eye power perfect. Not cataract/glaucoma. Cause/remedy?

Incipient cataract: Early lens changes typically cause glare and star bursts. However, at age 30 corneal pathology can cause visual symptoms. Tears are a treatment for dry eye but not a cure. Superficial punctuate keratitis seen in dry eye is rarely eliminated by artificial tears alone. Anti glare glasses may reduce visual symptoms due to ocular pathology but minimally. ...Read more
