Could my fatty liver be getting worse if I missed my period? I have lost 50 since march still weigh 270. Worried
Unrelated: A fatty liver reflects a metabolic syndrome hypercaloric over nutrition. Losing weight and exercising are the best ways to repair it. The absence of a period may change your weight a bit mostly due to fluid retention, but doesn't participate in the metabolic syndrome process. If you were in your 3rd trimester of pregnancy, then a fatty liver may be a concern. ...Read more

Sounds like biliary: Dyskinesia, given that there are no stones and low gallbladder ef. Cholecystectomy will alleviate symptoms in 70% of patients with this diagnosis. However, if there is also elevated bilirubin, that is suspicious for obstruction. Bilirubin needs to be fractionated and if it is direct bilirubin which is elevated further studies are indicated (e.g. Mrcp). Fatty liver should not cause elevated bilirub. ...Read more

Depends on cause: While obesity is the most common cause of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (nafld), there are other causes, including poorly controlled diabetes, drug toxicity, weight loss surgery and toxins. In your case, since you refer to this being caused by some medication, the best thing to do is to remove the offending agent, meanwhile avoid fatty foods and avoid alcohol until you are cleared by your md. ...Read more

What is fatty liver and what causes it. What is the sideeffects. My side on left an my stomach is fat back pain have kidney problem hurt all the time.
Hello.: Hello. I don’t know what the cause of your fatty liver is. However, a major cause of fatty liver is drinking too much alcohol. Alcohol use combined with poor diet, obesity, abnormally high iron levels and hepatitis c can increase the chances of getting fatty liver. There are also people who have fatty livers who don’t have an illness and who don’t drink. Some people can develop a fatty liver off drinking really heavily for a weekend, and the fat decreases when they stop drinking. In your case, it would be best to get specific input from your doctor as s/he can put this in the context of your total health picture. Take care. ...Read more

Have boarderline mild fatty liver with sugars at times in a.M. 105 but niormal all day stopped carbs lost 20 lbs can I reverse all and how long if yes?
Yes: The cornerstone of treatment for fatty liver disease is weight and daily exercise. Each have been shown to help. You should get a fasting cholesterol and liver profile checked. Also, cutting down on any alcohol will help. Typically, I would recheck these labs in 2-3 months after these lifestyle changes have been made. ...Read more

Would elevated bili for over a year be caused by Gilberts? Never was abnormal before just all the sudden. Could it b from fatty liver or more serious?
Maybe, it depends.:
There are many causes of elevated bilirubin, including Gilbert's syndrome and fatty liver. An initial work up, including liver function tests, complete blood count, hepatitis screening, and liver ultrasound, will provide a good starting point. Elevated bilirubin with all other tests being normal and no inciting medications is often due to Gilbert's.
Depends: Ibuprofen is not a harmless medication. The side effects include - stomach irritation and even ulcer and bleeding from the gastrointestinal tract, fluid retention (primarily in people with impaired kidney function) that leads to lower extremity swelling and elevated blood pressure. Kidney damage is more common in people with hypertension, diabetes etc. Otherwise, it can be used but with caution. ...Read more

Fenofibrate: Fenofibrate can cause abnormal liver tests, and if that occurs, the Fenofibrate may need to be stopped. Good luck. ...Read more

Taking 15mg mirtazapine for 16 months. Abd us shows fatty liver. Can mirtaz be the cause? I rarely drink alcohol
Not likely...: Fatty metamorphosis of the liver does not necessarily result only from alcohol consumption. If you study up on it, I think you'll find it is most often a condition more determined by your genetics and diet. I'd consult with a hepatologist (liver specialist from internal medicine) and maybe get a genetic analysis to see what your best strategy might be. ...Read more
