YasahForYasminSortOf: You really should get the proper morning after pill, Plan B (levonorgestrel). But if for some reason you are locked in a solitary confinement cell in northern Siberia with only a small toilet and a Yasmin (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) (Drospirenone/Ethinyl Estradiol) vending machine in your cell, then take 2 or 3 and pray. No remedy works 100% of the time, or even 95% of the time and you're taking a chance using an unproven one ...Read more
Is yasmin (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) pill can be use as a emergency contraceptive pills? In uae, we don't have the emergency pills. Badly need help. Thanks
No: I'm sorry, but yasmin (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) does not contain the correct type of Progesterone hormone to equal the emergency contraceptive pill we have in the us. Go to the pharmacy and find a birth control pill that contains Levonorgestrel hormone. A combo pill is okay. Take enough tablets to equal 1.5 mg of levonorgestrel, and that will be equal to the Plan B medication we have here in the us. Good luck. ...Read more
I have read that taking a certain dosage of normal contraceptive pill eg yasmin (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) cud be the equivalent of the emergency pill. Is this true?
Yes, but........: The emergency contraceptive is nothing more than high-dose pills to alter the lining of the uterus to interfere with implantation. Please contact your physician regarding how to use. But remember, emergency contraception is only 85% effective when taken within the therapeutic window. So, time is ticking..... ...Read more

How to use birth control pill yasmin (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) as emergency contraceptive?
Hi I have spotting that is barely there due to missing a pill if I double up will the spotting be gone by tomorrow night? I'm on Yasmin
Spotting is common: Spotting is common after missing a birth control pill. It is usually recommended to take the missed pill once you realize that you missed it. Due to the fluctuation in hormone levels from missing that pill, you may have intermittent light spotting for the next week, but it will most likely resolve after a day or so. You also must use backup contraception for the rest of the pill pack. ...Read more
I've been on my pill (yasmin) for about six years. I love its benefits and I don't want to change, but I spot all the time. Its embarassing. Thoughts?
Breakthrough bleed: Breakthrough bleeding (bleeding at the wrong time) is very common on birth control. It happens in about 1/3 of users. Its no big deal and usually self corrects over time. If you are not satisfied or it continues to happen then consider using a different birth control method. It is a common side effect and does not mean something is wrong or that the pill is not working. ...Read more

I am taking depakine chrono 500 mg as well as a contraceptive pill (yasmin). Does the fact that im taking depakine make the CP less effective?
No evidence but: Depakote does not appear on lists of medications that can decrease the effectiveness of oral contraceptives. Both Depakote and yasmin (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) have a higher risk of liver inflammation. I would suggest talking with your doctor about using a different form of contraceptive, or use an alternative to depakote. ...Read more

Generally yes...: I would want to know how old you are & if you have have any kidney probs before saying 100% yes. However, this should in general be safe & most OCPs can actually isbe taken for three months at a time with good safety in most women & then a break is recommended. Is it okey, if you do not follow the day sequence written at the back of yasmin (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) pills when taking them? But rather use your own random sequence yet ta
Why random?: Realistically- you need to take the colored (active) pills daily untill they are finished then you can take the white (placebo) pills. Choice of pills: Is done usually by the side effects rather than efficacy at preventing pregnancy. Birth control pills are theoretically effective up to 99.7% but in real world situations (due to forgetting to take, incorrect starts, etc) can be as low as 90%, and that shouldn't differ much amongst different pill formulations unless one is very large where higher-dose pills may be needed to control the cycles ...Read more

Probably safe: There isn't enough evidence regarding the long term effects of skipping the week off from birth control hormones. Most doctors agree that it is probably safe to go up to 4 months at a time. The uncertainty lies with the unknown effects of prolonged estrogen stimulation without a break. ...Read more
