Can I Feed My Baby Thawed Breast Milk
No: Breast milk is warm and tastes yummy to a baby. So, breast milk should not make a baby fussy. If a baby drinking from the breast seems fussy, but drinking formula seems fine, then the baby might be impatient (try feeding breast milk from a bottle to see what happens). On the other hand, a young baby might fuss on the breast when the let-down occurs because the milk is coming too fast! ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
I am pumping to feed my baby breast milk but also using formula. (i'm not producing enough). Should I do breast milk only and formula only bottles?
I would: I don't have science behind this, but i don't know if mixing breast milk and formula will break down the good proteins in either liquid. I'm probably being overly cautious with this recommendation. So, if it was my baby, i wouldn't mix. Hope that helps! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Sometimes: I've seen, on occasion, moms who produce a lot of milk very quickly, and the flow is too much for the baby. We once asked a mom of a choking baby to pump her breast in order to see how much was coming out, and she pumped 10oz from one breast in about 10 minutes. If your flow is like that, pump some off first to decrease the flow/amount. If not, see you pediatrician about swallowing problems. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Yes,but: It is less beneficial to older kids on solid foods. There are many benefits of breast milk and the content is somewhat tailored to the specific age of the infant, changing as s/he ages. After 8 months, when most have moved into some table foods the superiority of bm over formula diminishes. In older kids it is nutritious but unlikely to boost immunity when diluted by other foods. ...Read more
6 months: There's no convincing evidence that delaying any food beyond 4 to 6 months reduces the odds of allergies. The main reasons to delay foods are if they 1) are a choking hazard (like peanuts), 2) might cause an infection (like honey or raw eggs), 3) contain questionable ingredients (such as artificial colors), or 4) aren't good foods that you want kids to learn to love (such as soda or french fries). ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

If your daughter: won't drink from the bottle and your breast milk supply has decreased compared to her need, you can try giving her a cup of whole milk or formula (either a sippy cup or a regular cup). She is old enough to introduce this. She probably won't drink as much from the cup at the beginning, but once she gets used to it,she will probably do well. If she still won't drink enough, please speak to her doctor. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Can I use glycerin suppositories for my 1 month old baby she has 2 days without BM? I feed her formula and breast milk but mostly breast milk.
Mgt: Babies have different stool patterns. I would suggest discontinuation of the glycerin suppositories. Continue to keep your baby well fed with mostly breast milk. If there is no stool in 5 to 7 days, a visit to your PCP is advised. At your next visit, review the results of her newborn screening tests. ...Read more
After several bottle feedings(pumped breastmilk) my 3 months old does not stay attached to breast.if i switch to pumping does it reduce milk supply?
Not really : Your breasts have a biochemical servomechanism so that if your kid (or the pump) sucks out say 2.5 ounces then the breast fills itself up with an additional 2.5 ounces. He may have a weak suck, he may have a tongue-tie. Best thing to do is just check weight gain. Can do that at doc's office. If growing well then child is getting enough food. ...Read more
Smile..er Cheese :-): Assuming no allergies have been plaguing your child, table foods are usually started at 8 to 9 months of age. While baby foods are introduced at about 6 month of age, real honest to goodness table foods are delayed until we know the child is able to chew and swallow well. Cheese is good for kids. Small amounts are started then increased as the child is able to tolerate more volume. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Surface contact : The hpv virus passes from one surface to another through direct contact.Since the hpv never enters your bloodstream, it can never enter your milk and pass to baby.If you were shedding the virus in your birth canal it could end up attaching to baby in the process. Yes, but...: Don't feel guilty if you feel like you can't keep up with breastfeeding triplets. Usually, the more breastfeeding you do, the more milk the breasts will produce. However, given how often newborns need to breastfeed, I am not sure you will find time to sleep...Or do anything else for that matter! breastfeed as often as you are comfortable for your 3 babies, but don't feel bad to supplement! :-). ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
