Heel spur on back of foot &below back of foot. Achilles tendinitis visible bump on the side opposite of the ankle. Been years. Pains unbearable. Help?
Sick Achilles.: Your comments sound like the findings of a previous x-ray exam. I'm not sure what is meant by "bump on the opposite side of the ankle". If it is in the Achilles tendon, then extreme pain, could make sense. It sounds as though there is something amiss with your Achilles tendon. It would make sense to immobilize the ankle, and begin non-weight bearing until tendon imaging studies can be performed ...Read more

Tarsal tunnel : Description sounds somewhat like tarsal tunnel syndrome which is an entrapped nerve in the ankle but could also be referred lumbar radiculopathy (pinched nerve in back) or just really bad tendinitis compressing the nerves of the lower leg. Calf pain: can be several things: 1. tingling and numbness usually represent nerve pain - the sural nerve runs behind the calf muscle and could be pinched 2. the pain in the arch could be tednonitis - the posterior tibial tendon - when injured it can cause deep calf soreness and arch pain especially behind the ankle area. 3. tarsal tunnel syndrome I would suggest you see a Podiatrist or Foot & Ankle doctor ...Read more

I have pain stemming from the back of my left leg (calf) down to the ankle and numbness like pins and needles in my toes on the left foot. ?
Nerves=numbness: First consider if there is any swelling present. When someone presents with calf pain, it is important to be aware of the risks of blood clots in this area. This would most likely present with swelling of the leg. Many times people feel numbness in their foot in such a scenario. Such pain could also be due to injury to the Triceps Surae. If swollen, I send my patients for a doppler study. ...Read more
