Three possibilities: Bad breath usually is caused by one or a combination of these three problems: teeth, sinuses, digestive issues. First see dentist for a complete exam and cleaning to fix and/or rule out dental issues. If not resolved then see ear, nose and throat specialist and gastroenterologist. Your choice which one first. Dentist: Unless you have an infection / sore throat, most bad breath, that is not food based (garlic, onions, etc) is from bacteria on the back of the tongue or from gum disease bacteria. See your dentist first for a thorough evaluation, possibly deep cleaning. The major causes of non-food related breath odors (garlic etc.) are gum disease and rotting food particles on the tongue.
