Assisted Living (Overview)

Assisted living is a condition in which a person (usually an elderly person) lives in a facility with some assistance from the staff. The person is not debilitated enough for "nursing home" but also is not self-reliant enough for "independent living". Assisted living staff help with basic activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, dressing, etc...

No: Senior housing is typically for those who are independent and able to manage their own activities of daily living w/o assistance. If they do need assistance, it's provided out of pocket by themselves or family. Assisted living facilities provide care for those who don't need nursing care but also can't/shouldn't remain independent anymore.
