Define results :o): If increased aerobic capacity and endurance are desired results, would go with an aerobic plan. If increased muscle mass/strength is the desired goal, then would go anerobic weight training. For overall health, could grid an initial plan for aerobic/cardio 30 min 5 days per week, with weight training days of 25-30 min on mwf, so you will have rest/recovery from weight training. ...Read more

Doing without oxygen: In medicine, anaerobic usually means anaerobic exercise, such as in the 100-meter race at the olympics. In that sprint, the runners don't get enough oxygen to their leg muscles, so the muscles work in a low-oxygen state during the sprint and recover shortly afterwards. Missing info: Better to explain your symptoms (usually shortness of breath) so we understand why the cardiopulmonary exercise test was done. The more important part of the test is the aerobic capacity or vo2max which normally is around 25-30 ml/kg/min at your age. Anaerobic threshold is usually around half of that. I dont know what yours score of 11 refers to so why not ask the doc who ordered it to explain. ...Read more
Not usually: Our body does not use protein for energy unless it is an emergency (starvation for example). The simple way to look at this is that it will first break carbs, then fat (to make carbs and break them). Once it used all the carbs and fat (which should only happen in starvation), it would use protein. ...Read more
