How do you reduce swollen allergy eyes?

How do you reduce swollen allergy eyes?

Medicated OTC drops: Drops containing ketotifen ophthalmic, zaditor, alaway, etc, are often more effective than artificial tears or murine, if symptoms are severe. Also consider otc antihistamines, but avoid the ones with decongestants, as these can dry out your eyes. See an ophthalmolgist or eyemd if you are not improving in a few days, as there are stronger prescription eyedrops available if the otc does not work. ...Read more

See an eye doctor: There are prescription medications that will likely help. Either an antihistamine, or antihistamine combination drop, steroid eye drops are sometimes used acutely for relief. See your ophthalmologist, ask not only for a treatmen, but a plan - what you can do on your own when your child has an exacerbation. ...Read more

Had allergy with swollen lips & eyes 2 days ago. Took Benadryl (diphenhydramine) and a steroid shot. Today having rash on torso and extremities. Allergic to injection?

More info.: Large dose of steroid can cause acne. However the rash may also be just a part of the swollen lips and eyes process which returns when the level of steroid starts to fall off. I presume that you are on Benadryl (diphenhydramine). ...Read more

5yo/f no allergies/sensitivities but very swollen eyes in winter. Dr has no idea. Sleeping well & in excellent health?

Possible dryness?: Have you considered just plain old dryness that causes irritation of her eyes just in the winter? I would try saline drops during the day and applying a saline gel at bedtime and see if that solves the problem. If forced air heat in your house, I'd also invest in getting the ductwork professionally cleaned. You wouldn't believe what can hide in old ducts! ...Read more

I'm on Prednisolone and Allegra (fexofenadine) for a severe allergy attack (hives, itching, swollen eyes) Can I safely take Valium to help me relax and sleep?

Yes: Sometimes prednisolone and other steroid products can cause insomnia or restless sleep. While allegra (fexofenadine) is an antihistamine and has a potential for drowsiness, it is of low potential. It is ok to take valium at night but I would not do it indefinitely because can be habit forming. ...Read more

Swollen eyes went away and came back. Could they be due to cat allergy?

Always feeling out of breath and have to take deep breaths I have no allgeries but in spring I wake up with swollen eyes what is this?

See doctor: There are many potential causes for being "out of breath" and you need to consult a doctor to find out even though it may be from asthma. Swollen eye: If you've been on those 2 meds for 2 months, it'd be strange for it to cause a reaction all of a sudden now.
