Aldosterone/Plasma Renin Ratio
F/36yrs. Low BP, CMPanel/glucose/insulin normal. Creatinine,Urine=145.7mg/dL, Microalbumin,Urine 59.3ug/mL(HI)&Microalb/Creat Ratio 40.7 (Hi). Cause?
I saw a nephrologist and after reviewing a complete metabolic panel and random urinalysis including plasma renin, serum aldosterone, cortisol and urine sodium, potassium, and calcium ...He diagnosis me with gitelman's syndrome. He says i'm only wasting po
Low aldosterone, normal renin. Sodium 141(135-145), potassium 3.4(3.5-5.0) confused, shouldnt sodium be lower if low aldosterone and potassium higher?
What does high microalbumin/ creatinine 165.82, high protein/creatinine ratio 0.31. Urine microalbumin 13.1. And total protein25.0 indicate?
Low aldosterone, Na normal renin cortisol. High K, variable creat 1.4-2.2 in the same week. Nephro says reason diabetic endo say RTA/adrenal. Thought?
See below: An elevated BUN with normal creatinine and a ratio of [generally more than 18-20] occurs most commonly in dehydrated individuals and is not a sign of kidney damage. It may also occur in in certain other conditions like bleeding in the intestines, artificial nutrition intravenously of Amino Acids and use of steroids.Your doctor determines its significance. ...Read more
Aldosterone 161 pmol/l - renin/aldosterone ratio 5 - renin 11.4 ng/l - angiotensin II 8ng/l. I have postural orthostatic tachycarda. Why low angioten?
All connected: I am not an expert on this and you don't mention your lab standards so it is hard to say, but they are all connected to each other to regulate the volume of fluid and salt held or released by your kidney and there for your blood pressure. Too little salt then too little volume of blood and BP drops when you stand. ...Read more
Globulin level: 4.5, Albumin level: 3.9, Total Protein: 8.4, Albumin/Globulin Ratio: 0.9, AST: 68, ALT: 105. What do these levels mean?
Need med history: You need to tell us why was this test done. Did you have some complaints? Once we know your symtoms, if any, it is easier to interpret your lab results. Your liver enzymes are slightly high and so is the globulin level which can occur due to liver problems like Hepatitis. Your doctor needs to recheck these labs in another one or two months and find the cause?hepatitis? ...Read more
Total protein 8.3, serum albumin 4.2 , serum globulin 3.8, albumin globulin ratio 1.2.. Is this abnormal?
Abnormal labs: It would be helpful that for the labs mentioned above. If you. Can find the normal range or reference range and list it than our answer can be more educated and helpful. The reference range does vary from one lab to another. ...Read more
Decrease in flow.: Bun=blood urea nitrogen, byproduct of proteins ingested, if rise to high levels due to kidney problem, can cause toxic affects on the body. Creatinine= measurement of renal function. Normal bun/cr ratio about 10. The higher that ratio, the more likely it is not intrinsic kidney disease per se, but reduction in blood flow or volume to kidney, like when on strong diuretic-prerenal-reversible. ...Read more

Inorgan.Phosphate0.77, serum total protein63, serum globulin14, all slightly low. Norm. Calcium &albumin.Tsh9.25, known hypothyroidism. Further tests?
ALT low 30's thru 10-yr illness. Chronic dehydration, low phosphorus, low WBC, high alk phos, L sodium, unstable glucose, H creatinine, L protein?
Not the key: I appreciate your interest in labs. Your ALT is in what most labs count as normal range. You haven't provided actually numbers for any lab, and for those you cite, only very markedly out-of-range values are helpful. No responsible physician would even direct you based on these labs, though it would surprise me if a nephrologist found you to have a mild interstitial nephritis. ...Read more

ACTH stimulation: If you have features of both problems, the male hormone levels and menstrual irregularities and infertility are the hallmarks of a diagnosis of PCOS. What does your Endo or Gyne/Endo say about this ? Ask them for answers, which may include an ACTH stim test to see how your pituitary axis is functioning to start with, followed by more adrenal function testing... ...Read more
What means an urine-to plasma creatinine ratio > 200? My urine creatinine was 171mg/dl, serum creatinine 0.8mg/dl, ratio:213.
Nothing: This is a meaningless number that is primarily a function of how much water you were drinking. It's used to help calculate other labs. ...Read more
Testosterone aldo: When testosterone is given as a supplement in men with "low T", fluid retention is often noted as a side effect. The cause of this fluid retention is complex, and not just related to aldosterone levels. In a normal male with normal testosterone, this is not really a factor. ...Read more
