9 Month Old Baby High Fever
My 9 month old baby now has a cough and cold and her teeth started to grow. It's been 3 days tht she's having high fever. Is it normal? What should I do?
See a doctor: Fever usually means that the body is raising the temperature to stop viral or bacterial attacks. An infant retains the mother's antibodies for about 3 months. The infant's immature immune system takes over so the baby becomes more vulnerable. If the baby's temperature is very high or very low, it may be very serious go to emergency dept, hydrate, tepid not cold water for cooling, take a temperature.See 1 more doctor answer
High fever: She may have a serious infection. Take her to the er immediately or call your pediatrician.
Define infant: The sinus cavities don't start to form clinically until 4-6m and are difficult to assess reliably before a year of age, if then. Sinus xrays at a year are often filled with fluid with a cold & that study does not reliably confirm a dx. After a year of age the DX is a bit more realistic. Tonsillitis & nasopharyngitis are common early sinusitis like illnesses & can boost a fever &wbc.See 1 more doctor answer
Ibuprofen cautiously: >100 different infections could be causing the fever so there is no way to answer your question, but... Most of the infections are common colds etc. Give Ibuprofen - dose depends on child's weight. Fever itself is not harmful rather the underlying cause. 2% can have seizures. See md if acting very sick, if breathing hard/funny, crying excessively, dehydrated, excessively sleepy, stiff neck etc.
7 month old baby had high fever/wbc. Diagnosed with UTI from ecoli. A few days after treatment, some of his fingers started peeling a bit. Cause?
Hard to say: Sometimes bacteria can produce toxins that cause skin peeling but E coli is unlikely to do so. Also some antibiotics can cause skin rashes so it is possible it is the treatment. Or it could be completely unrelated and a completely different problem. If it does not improve, discuss with the baby's pediatrician.
My 9 month old has a high fever and periodically shakes as if he's shocked causing him to either wake up or cry and sounds slightly congested?
Must treat fever: Babies become severely dehydrated quickly from high temperatures. This can lead to serious consequences. Be sure to hydrate and use anti-pyretics (advid and tylenol) and go to an md soon. Goog luck!
Why would a Dr. Order a bone marrow test for a 9 month old with low white blood cell count and persistent high fever?
Need more info: Is it just the white count, and is it always low? If so, I'd be worried about a defect in white cell production or increased white cell destruction. If it were the white count and red count, and/or platelet count, I would be worried that there was something in the bone marrow keeping it from working well, such as leukemia. I'd want more information. Has a blood slide been examined by a specialist?See 1 more doctor answer
My 9 month old baby girl is very sick with cold cough and flu and also her fever is getting high n some times low + vomits at night. She can't breath?
Needs to be seen NOW: Babies the age of your daughter do not have a lot of reserve when it comes to illnesses. As a result, their condition can deteriorate quickly when ill. From what you are describing, she needs to be seen by a doctor as soon as possible.
My baby is 7 month old. She has a high fever of 103. If its a UTI can I give her cranberry juice?
Probably not enough: A baby with 103 degree fever should not be treated at home. There are too many variables to consider for this to be safe. The most important feature, with the help of a medical professional, is to ascertain exactly what is the source for your baby's fever. Often this requires testing of blood & urine, and possibly even x-rays. Cranberry juice while famous for treating adult utis is not recommended.See 2 more doctor answers
A 9 month old baby has been suffering from recurring fever for three days. When the baby was examined on day 1, theent was clear and the temperature was 101. It was advised that the baby might be teething or may have a virus. Now, the temperature has reac
Always an option: Any kid can come in a day or 2 before their ear infection becomes clear, only to have the problem progress over 8-12 hours. If the kid is eating robustly and playful most of the time, a significant issue is less likely and a virus may be running it's course. If the kid is off his/her activity pattern, drinking has fallen and your parent sense is telling you it's more, get back in to have a recheck.See 2 more doctor answers
My 9 month old baby started spitting up mucus 3 days ago and has yellow loose stool. He hasn't ran a fever yet, should I be worried?
Mucus: Your child has symptoms of a viral illness. Use saline nose drops for the mucus coming from the nose. For the loose stools stay on a bland diet consisting of rice, bananas, jello, apple sauce, clear soup, dry toast reduce milk and milk products. Us electrolyte replacement fluids to prevent dehydration.
What other sx?: Fever @ a 102 level is common in infants & toddlers with a wide variety of minor and some significant illnesses. I find tylenol (acetaminophen) can give comfort & take a degree off a temp, but any resolution will be the illness going thru its cycles. If baby is playing some & taking fluids well enough to wet every 6hrs, u may be able to ride this out at home. If quiet, taking poorly etc. Call in & or see the dr.
Yes: See dr pizzo's response. But keep in mind that the type of mercury (and there are safe and not safe types) in the shot has been demonstrated in many, many research studies to not have or cause any serious side effects in babies whereas the influenza infection can be deadly, causing unfortunately several thousands deaths in children per year. Do not be afraid. Get the shot!See 1 more doctor answer

My 8 month old has a really hot head but doesn't seem to have a fever, what is considerd a high fever? And is this normal?
Children and Fever: Any fever in a child under one years of age is an emergency. You should contact your pediatrician urgently. You do not sit at home when a baby is feverish.
20 month old had high fever of 40. Got it down and she is sleeping. It is now back up to 38. Should I wake her for meds or let her sleep?
Let her sleep: Fever is a natural body response to illness that increases the heart rate & movement of white cells & antibodies that fight illness. Sleep is a natural response to the need for the additional work. I NEVER wake a sleeping child for fever meds. If they are awake & it is dose time, I may or may not give it bases on their level of comfort.
My 16 month old has a cold on her chest and a high fever which goes away after medicine but come right back. She was give amoxilicilin and histal?
My child who is 18 months old have been suffering from high fever with runing nose, I m from pakistan, so kindly tel me such medicines which are here.
Water: I cannot tell you what medicine is necessary without a proper diagnosis. A fever is not a diagnosis, it is a symptom. My main concern with a fever is maintaining proper hydration. You do this with lots of liquids. The primary liquid you do it with is water.. For a more specific treatment, you will need to see a doctor.
