Right lung mass. Bilateral nodules. Question of right hilar adenopathy. This is information listed as a result of ct scan of chest.

Lung mass: Something is missing! There must have been symptoms that led to a pet scan. Unless a biopsy was performed how could your doctor simply say that there was no cancer? I hope there was indeed no cancer but the symptoms that led to the pet scan should be a cause for biopsy. Do the doctors have any idea what the pleural mass might be? Not usually: Pneumonia itself does not usually appear as a mass on an xray. However, those that have a mass in their lungs, can develop an infection on top of that so it can definitely appear that way. It is always best to have a repeat chest x ray after you have been treated for pneumonia to make sure there is no underlying mass. Take care! ...Read more

Pleurisy or other dx: Pain with breathing is called 'pleuritic pain'. Pleurisy or pneumonia can cause inflammation of the 'lung lining' so it is important to distinguish these 2 causes. Pneumonia usually has other symptoms: cough/fever/fatigue/short of breath. A chest xray can help make the diagnosis.
