Are novolog 70/30 and novolin 70/30 insulin that same?

Are novolog 70/30 and novolin 70/30 insulin that same?

Novolog is faster: The '70' portion of both is same, but the '30' portion of NovoLog has faster onset of action <15 min vs about 30 min for novolin (insulin). Otherwise, unit for unit they are about same. The NovoLog thus can be used right before meal, novolin (insulin) should be about 15-30 min before meal. So just timing is different. Consult doc. Good luck. ...Read more

Why do you have to mix insulin before use my mom is diabetic and she wants to why she has rub the 70/30 insulin between her hands before she uses

Why do you have to mix insulin before use my mom is diabetic and she wants to why she has rub the 70/30 insulin between her hands before she uses

Many : Many types of Insulin do not need any mixing, rubbing. Those insulins that are cloudy are mixtures or suspensions that don't work well if not gently mixed. In my view, these are inferior insulins that do not match your body's normal Insulin production. These mixtures tend to make you need to eat for the Insulin so as to avoid getting a low sugar. The better insulins also do not require mixing or rubbing. The main downside of these other "clear" insulins is that they cost more. Otherwise, they are superior in many ways. See the link below. ...Read more
