7 Year Old Picky Eater
Which is better for a 3 year old picky eater a multivitamin or pedisure nutrition drink? On top of nutritional meals
Whole food vitamin : I like whole food vitamins that give you the equivalent of several servings of fruits and veggies. Good healthy foods should be presented with no ability to "place order" ( unless allergies ). Limit drinks as kids can fill up on milk and juice and not experience hunger. Make a healthy smoothie at home if needed. Find high calorie nutrient dense foods so do not need large quantity to be consumed. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Is he growing: At that age i expect a kid to eat well 3-5 days a month and nibble the rest. This follows a reduction in growth rate from 14 lb/yr ; 10 in/yr to 4 lb and 3 in/yr. If his intake sustains normal activities for age and his growth is stable (checkups), it is likely fine.Try not to be seduced into offering junk food as his intake/d will stop when his internal monitor says to. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Picky eaters: Picky eating habits will drive most parents crazy. At 2 yr the grow rate has slowed to ~5lb/3inch/yr which is much slower than earlier. Feeding matches need. Most feed well 4 days a month & nibble the rest. Single item days are common (breads, veggies, etc) & a balanced week is more common than a balanced meal. If you only offer nutritious choices, they'll get what they need. Discuss with your Dr. ...Read more
Unlikely: A natural drop in feeding happens as growth slows from a 14lb/10in/yr in 1st yr to a 5lb/4inch/yr in 2nd. They also drive you crazy with their food selections. I expect todlers to feed well about 4-5 days a month, grazing & picky for the rest. Vitamins are ok if you want but most do well without. I like liquid vits at that age, not the candy vits. Todlers may find & ingest adult look alike meds. ...Read more
Keep trying: It can take at least 10 exposures to a new food before a child will begin to like a new food. Request that your daughter try a pea-sized amount of whatever food it is you want her to begin eating. Do not make special meals just for her - offer her the same healthy food you offer the rest of the family. ...Read more
My 4 year old daughter is skinny and picky eater what kind calroie rich and nutritious food s should be given to her?
Picky eating: Is a way that a child tries to control you. 1. Ask if she wants the food, if she doesn't, put it in the fridge and warm it for the next meal. 2. If she takes it and fools around with it, ask her "do you want it? If no tell her not to take food that she doesn't want and put it in the fridge for the next meal. 3. Do not substitute. You have to be "cruel to be kind"! ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
My 2 year old Son-shine is 28lbs and 34 inches tall but a picky eater. I supplement his diet with Pediasure daily. Is his weight normal?
Why does my 2 year old farts smell so bad. She is a very picky eater and eats the same thing almost everyday but no vegetables. Is something wrong?
You'd have to see : her pediatrician for a check-up to know for sure, but if she has no other GI symptoms, she's probably okay. At family sit-down meals, offer fruits, vegetables, whole grains & beans. Model eating them; don't nudge. Limit milk to 16 oz./day in open-mouth cups only with meals. Offer water only for thirst, in open-mouth cups. Read " How To Get Your Kid To Eat But Not Too Much" by Ellyn Satter. ...Read more
My 6 year old child is a picky eater. What kind of vitamins can I give her to make up for nutrients she's not taking in?
Cheap ones: Kids are likely to become iron and vitamin d deficient nowadays (lifestyles as much as "picky eating"). Different things taste different to people. An inexpensive drugstore-chain vitamin-and-mineral supplement with sufficient levels of both should cover junior and prevent turning mealtime (which should be joyful) into a time that makes being a parent and a kid even more difficult. Good luck. ...Read more
Our 2.5 year old has become a very picky eater. We're thinking about a multivitamin. Should they be liquid or gummy, and should they contain iron?
Gummy with iron: It's not unusual for finicky eating patterns at this stage in a child's developement. Your idea to supplement with an iron-containing multivitamin is a very good one, since iron deficiency anemia is a significant problem for this age group. Children usually better tolerate the gummy form vs. The liquid forms of multivitamins. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
