7 Week Scan Heartbeat
After 8 weeks ep scan crl is 2.5mm and no heartbeat but fetel pole is seen. Is this normal? Advised next scan in 1 week.
At 7 wk scan saw the heartbeat @117, also saw a clot in the sac, gestational sac is at 9 weeks and baby at 6 weeks and 2d. Anything to worry?
Maybe: As lon as fetus has heartbeat things are good. With your clot you are at risk of bleeding and possible miscarriage. ...Read more
I had my 20 week scan 2 weeks ago and doctors said everything is fine. Now they can't find a heartbeat and said the baby had died? How is this possibl
It happens: Sorry for your loss. They estimate that as many as a 3rd of conceptions are shed before they implant, and a few conceptions don't implant well & shed before pregnancy is recognised. When you carry as long as you did, loss can still happen for a variety of reasons. You may want to ask them to study the material that passes to see if they can come up with a reason. ...Read more

How early can a scan of baby show a baby and heartbeat? As I keep getting sever pain in my bottom. I'm 5 weeks from conception & 7 from missed period.
Lmp 5/1, positive hpt 3/2, bhcg 2063 7/2. Dating scan yesterday revealed yolk sac only, no heartbeat dated at 6 weeks only? Missed miscarriage?
Another BHCG: The best way to know what is going on with the pregnancy it to have another bhcg level drawn. The number should double every 48 hours. If it is staying the same or declining the pregnancy is probably not going to continue. If it is on the rise then perhaps the ultrsound was just too early to detect the gestational sac and heartbeat. ...Read more
Dating scan showed that I'm 5 weeks 6 days with a fetal heartbeat of 160 bpm. Is this high, or could I be further along?
Ok: The values for heart rates are within normal limits. The dating is not dependent on heart rate but size of the fetus. ...Read more
Baby had no heartbeat on 9 weeks 2 days after a detailed scan in hospital - cystic hygroma. What are the causes that lead to this?
At how many weeks can I hear my babies heartbeat. I had a transvaginal scan 5w5d and they didn't hear heart beat. I am now 6w from conception.
Embryo heartbeat: It is close to 12 weeks that you can hear a baby's heartbeat with a doppler. An ultrasound can detect it a little sooner. Doesn't mean anything is wrong, the baby just needs to grow a bit. :) ...Read more
Feeling my heartbeat in stomach for over a week with some pain. I have also been feeling just blah. Did get a Ct scan, was negative. Still concerned?
Resolving GI bug?: The most concerning thing about "feeling heartbeat in stomach" is a prominent pulse of the aorta possibly associated with an aneurysm. This would be VERY unusual in a 25 year old. But I presume this was excluded in the CT scan. So then we are left with some abdominal pain & the blah's. Keep up hydration, eat a slightly bland diet, exercise but don't overdo, and consider?? mood issues/depression? ...Read more

5w6d based on scan. No heartbeat nor baby yet. Will I be able to see it on the 7th or wait till the 8th?
Too early...: I would probably wait until the 8th week. You can see it between the 7th or 8th so you go for a better visualization at that time. Any time after that it should be clearly noticed. ...Read more
7w4d showed heartbeat and crl-13mm in the follow-up scan. Earlier scan at 5w5d wecould see only ysac and gsac. Is this growth ok?
Yes: This is very typical and normal.Get a more detailed answer ›
Unknown.: Your baby's heartbeat and ultrasounds are very reassuring however (and unfortunately) anything can happen. If things continue to go as well as they are and you get past the 20 week mark you should be in good shape! And of course, don't smoke, drink, use drugs, or over do it! Best of luck, I'm sure everything will be fine!! ...Read more

Had emergancy scan wed found the sack but couldn't find a heart beat in babe they worked out I'm 5 w 2d have to go back in week how do I take that?
Fetal heart beat: It is ideal to find fetal heart beat by vaginal ultra sound between 5 and 1/2 to 6 and 1/2 weeks. So it is premature to draw any conclusions with your previous scan. You have to wait for another week. ...Read more

I am seven weeks pregnant. Last vaginal u/s dr said there is only sac no heart beat. So this is not a viable pregnancy. Is there any hope?
Probably not: This is not a good presentation for early pregnancy unless the pregnancy is earlier along than you think. A vaginal ultrasound should be able to detect embryonic heart beat by six weeks. A five week pregnancy would reveal a sac but no heartbeat. In these instances, blood testing and followup ultrasound are often done to evaluate these findings. ...Read more

I am 7week preg. Had a scan yesterday. Doc says heartbeat is slower that should be. And suspect a white mass in sac. Normal!! should I be worried?
Don't stress.: 7 weeks is super early. You won't pick up a heart rate before that because of organogenesis - the heart just developed enough to have a pacer and enough of a pump structure. Follow doc's orders, get follow-up ultrasounds & hang tight. Too early to tell. Calm mom = calm baby. ...Read more

Hi, my last periods was on dec 18. I scan done yest shows tht I am in the 5 th gestational week. Sac was visible. But heart beat was not. Is tht ok.
Hopefully: The fetal heartbeat is often not visible until 6 weeks, so if you are 5 weeks, it's normal. However, you're just more than 6 weeks from last period. If you ovulated a week late, then all appears normal. If you ovulated 2 weeks after your last period (expected with a 28 day cycle), then this may be a miscarriage. A repeat ultrasound 1 week later will tell. ...Read more

@7wk scan saw the heartbeat @117, also saw a blood clot in the sac, gestational sac at 9wks with baby at6wk 2 d. Anything to worry. On bed rest now.
Pretty common: This is called a subchorionic bleed and it's typically related to bleeding from the placenta. It typically resolves without incident, however, large bleeds can result in miscarriage. Either way, bed rest really doesn't do anything to help the situation. It's best to try to live your life as a normal pregnant women would. ...Read more

I have been hearing my heartbeat in my ears. I had a ct scan and im missing bones in my ears. What is this and how can it be treated?
Started Lexapro (escitalopram) 10 seven days ago now I have a bitter taste in my mouth also I can feel my heart beat as if my heart was outside my body as if scared?
Lexapro (escitalopram) dose: The bitter taste is from the lexapro (escitalopram). It is an uncommon side effect with lexapro (escitalopram). It will probably go away with time. With your history of high blood pressure and you feeling your heart pounding I think you should have your blood pressure checked. Sometime when people start on Lexapro (escitalopram) they can get a sense of over stimulation that can lead to palpitations. Sometimes that is treated by lowering the dose temporarily. Call your psychiatrist or prescribing physician for directions regarding any medication dosage changes. Best wishes. ...Read more

What does it mean when you have had an early scan and they can see two sacks but only 1 fetal heart beat?
You may have a twin pregnancy and is too early to see both heart beats, or you could have what its called a vanishing twin.

Had scan today 7wks 5d they couldsee foetal pole and a yolk sac a flicker they thought was a heart beat of 104bpm can that be normal at this stage?
By 7.5 weeks gestation, a fetal heart rate should be visualized on sonography.
However, by this gestation it would be more reassuring to see the heart rate in the 120-160 range. Nevertheless, the only thing to do right now is follow-up with your OB and monitor the pregnancy over the next few weeks. ...Read more
