7 Week Old Squirms And Grunts While Breastfeeding
Breastfeeding is providing nutrition to an infant using breat milk either directly by infant latching and sucking on the nipple or by feeding via bottle with expressed breast milk (when baby has difficulty suckling). Breast milk is the best milk for any baby but ...Read more
Yes: gas can be uncomfortable for newborns and can cause them to wake. However, 7 week olds may not be sleeping for other reasons as well. First question is how often is your baby sleeping. You likely have an 2 month well check coming up with your pediatrician and this is a great time to discuss sleep in detail so your current feeding/sleeping schedule can be reviewed. ...Read more
I have recurring tonsil stones and recurring tonsillitis. Currently breastfeeding a 7 week old. Will I need to wait till I wean my baby to be treated?
Not necessarily: Most treatments involving medications can be designed with breastfeeding in mind. Anesthesia required for surgical intervention could temporarily interfere with breastfeeding but storing enough breast milk for a few days while you recover is a viable solution. Hope you are feeling better soon! ...Read more
I have a 7wk old & am breastfeeding. My hubby has been giving 1+ pumped bottle/day for a month. Can I give expressed milk sometimes w/o confusing him?
Yes, but...: Baby might not be confused, but he also might not take it. Speaking from personal experience, my daughter wouldn't take a bottle from me at that age - she knew i had the fresh stuff & insisted on nursing, but would take a bottle from anyone else. The best book out there for breastfeeding advice is "so that's what they're for: breastfeeding basics" by janet todaro. My baby is 2 weeks and I m breastfeeding. He is doing well but does a lot of grunting. Should I be concerned?
Babies own us: Newborns have no prior training on how to fit into a polite society. They are full of grunts, squeaks, burps and other noises that have no significance.Grunting does not mean they are constipated, and some actually use tightening their breathing muscle to help digestion (grunts/farts and hard tummy wall).Enjoy the symphony, some day you will wish you could go back in time and re-live it. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My 7 week old has severe gas. He just had hernia surgery, and i'm afraid hrs will have another. He grunts all day and night. Any suggestions?
Mylecon: Any gassy infant may benefit from some mylecon drops, available over the counter. They are basically a soapy material that helps the gas come together & form a bigger pocket that can move along faster. The medication stays in the intestines so side effects are essentially non existent. 7wk old babies grunt & squeak & make all sorts of other noises all the time & it doesn't mean anything bad. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I have a seven month old i've been breastfeeding and have had one period last month but no period this month. What gives?
Breast-feeding: It is not uncommon for women who breast-feed not to have a cycle. Breast-feeding suppresses ovulation therefore you will not have a cycle in the regular sense. You may get occasional bleeding but most of the time breast-feeding is effective at stopping ovulation. Don't assume this is a good form of birth control though as it is not 100% effective. ...Read more
My period is 3days late and am not ready for the pregnancy because am still breastfeeding a seven month old baby.Pls advise?
Just do preg. test: One can just do a urine pregnancy test next week. A positive test, with a missed period, means a pregnancy. However, the 7 month-old baby will be 16 months-old by the time the new brother or sister is born. That's not too close together, but be sure the husband takes time off to help take care of the children. ...Read more
My baby is 7 plus months old and i'm breastfeeding. Can I have an occasional cup of coffee? Probably once a week.
Go for it: Coffee has stimulant properties that may influence a babies sleep/wake cycle when used regularly. Some consider that worthy of avoiding it. It is only dangerous in the premi and newborn who have not developed the enzyme systems that can break the caffeine down. For them a little caffeine can hang around for weeks.Older kids like yours are at no risk. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
