Go slow: As a weight loss surgeon. I commend you for your goal of getting healthier. I highly recommend that you don't limit your calories too much as this will cause your metabolic rate to slow down and it becomes much harder to lose weight. Reduce weight: This is a repeat of what I have said before. My philosophy is that the best way to lose weight is not by dieting, but by changing your lifestyle to a healthier one. You don't need a drastic diet. Make small changes. Eat the right portions, eat 3-5 small meals a day, cut back on carbs and sugars, increase lean protein/veggie/fruit/water intake, and start doing some cardiovascular exercise. ...Read more

Heavily proteinaceous meals will elevate the blood levels of certain Amino Acid like triptophan. This increases the synthesis of serotonin which will make you feel relaxed and sleepy. Maybe: First of all, congratulations on your goal of losing weight. Even a little bit of weight loss can really help with type 2 diabetes. Meal timing is an interesting area that we don't have all the answers to. Yes, it can: Interpretation of physical signals can be misread by people. A good specialist psychotherapist might be able to help you learn better responses to the 'weird' cues you get. Needs evaluation: Could be normal for you but also could be a symptom of a heart problem or metabolic disorder like hypothyroid. Your doctor should perform an EKG and draw a metabolic blood panel with thyroid levels additionally. Might be normal issu: Random palpitations can be a normal issue if they happen from time to time or if you are taking in stimulants like coffee, alcohol, tobacco or over-the-counter medications such as pseudoephedrine, which is found in cold preparations and some herbal medications, including ma huang.
