Unsafe, unwise: I believe most extreme diets are unhealthy and unwise and this is a good example. I advise limiting protein to about 70 grams a day. Higher amounts puts stress on the kidneys, can cause osteoporosis and may reduce longevity- esp. if the main source is animal protein. You're doing well!: going from 270 to 220 will have a significant lowering of risk of diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease. Of course, you will have about 500 LESS calories burned per day due to the lower weight. Calorie count, estimates of how much net in/out is a first start. Depends what type of: exercising you are doing? High intensity, triathlon, marathon, or short burst, walking, running, sprinting? If you are a long, term high intensity runner, triathlon, you need to have more calories (carbs) before hand to not burn up (or consume) your muscles as fuel instead of the carbs.
