My hCG went from 11000 to 49000 at 7 weeks. Should it be higher than that? My previous test was at 6 weeks pregnant. My progesterone level is 79

That is about right: During very early pregnancy, the hgc rises/doubles in about 48-72 hours. Say your is about 72 hours=3 days. 11000 doubles to 22000, then again doubles another 72hrs, thus =44000, with 5000 left for the 7th day; just an estimate. Just remember, everyone is different. Follow doc's advice. Congrats on the pregnancy and best of luck to you. ...Read more

Pregnancy (Definition)

When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more

I'm 6 weeks pregnant, my progesterone was 28.5 and it dropped to 18.9, my hCG levels are normal still, from 221 to 641. Why my progesterone levels dropped? Am i at high risk to loose my baby?

Don't panic: Although the Progesterone drop is a sign of concern in the first trimester, it does not automatically mean you will miscarry, but it does increase the chance. Some OBs would consider placing you on Progesterone therapy to raise your level in hopes of maintaining the pregnancy at least until the placenta is able to take over and produce the needed Progesterone to sustain it. Talk to your doctor. ...Read more

Maybe.: The HCG is not doubling as well as we would like and your Progesterone is low. These suggest you should be monitored closely over the next week. See your doc to consider repeating HCG and or us. ...Read more

My progesterone was 5.1 on cd 26. Im 6 weeks pregnant & dr wont check progesterone bc he says im not having issues. Should i demand a test or will i be ok?

Agree w doc : Healthy pregnancies secrete higher Progesterone than abnormal pregnancies destined for miscarriage. The ultimate outcome can not be changed. Testing Progesterone levels and supplementing if needed is not supported by clinical evidence. ...Read more

What can I do?Progesterone?

Nothing, Sadly: We do not have treatments to save a failing pregnancy except in unusual circumstances. Most miscarriages are genetically abnormal - they have the wrong number of chromosomes. Most of the remaining pregnancies are abnormal for other reasons and only about 7% of miscarriages have both normal chromosomes and normal fetal development. Speak with your doc and follow carefully. Best wishes. ...Read more

Likely 'yes': Those levels are still reasonable. Where did you hear that HCG doubles every 3 days? That's a very rough guideline only! consider as well if you are worried that ultrasound at 6 weeks is very sensitive and reliable. ...Read more

Lots of things: First of all bleeding is very common. It is even more common after treatment and more common with twins. Could be from your hormones, could be from some fluid in the uterus around the pregnancy, may be that one pregnancy did not develop well. Only time will tell. but the bleeding itself is not dangerous ...Read more

I'm pregnant with twins about 6 weeks progesterone is 9.1 is that normal?

No: Generally Progesterone levels should be very high in early pregnancy and over 100 is not uncommon. With twins it should be higher. The fact that it is 9.1 is probably not a good sign and may suggest that you are miscarrying. The best way to tell what is happening is to get an ultrasound. Good luck. ...Read more

Progesterone level of 14.8 at 6 weeks 1 day pregnant. Is this number ok? Baby had a heartbeat and measured perfectly.

Probably ok: Congratulations, you are pregnant! try not to treat the numbers, there really isn't much you can do about it. While your physician may place you on Progesterone supplementation, there is no evidence that this decreases miscarriage risk. That being said, it can't hurt. If the fetal size is appropriate and the heart beat is normal, try to relax and enjoy your pregnancy. Best of luck! ...Read more
