Sonogram (Definition)

The sonogram is a test that looks at body organs with no radiation. It uses sound waves and can give us a 2 dimensional view of organs such as the kidney, liver, heart, and lungs. It can define spaces that are either solid or full of fluid. I can also guide large needles into an organ or near the spine, and can help define the area being cut open. Its a ...Read more

Please tell me, could a transvaginal ultrasound tell if you are two or three weeks pregnant?

Please tell me, could a transvaginal ultrasound tell if you are two or three weeks pregnant?

Definition?: If by 2-3 weeks , you mean from the last period, the answer is no. If you mean 2-3 weeks after conception, the answer is maybe. At 3 wks after conception (5 wks menstrual age), a tiny sac-like structure may be seen but no fetal pole or heart activity. A urine pregnancy test will be more sensitive. ...Read more

I am 3 months pregnant when do I need to get an ultrasound I have had three earlier last one at 2 and half months ?

Depends: Unless there are other problems, the standard approach is to do an early ultrasound to confirm the dating, due date, etc. And then another around 18 weeks (4-5 month) to look for birth defects. Other ultrasound are not necessary and don't improve outcome. ...Read more

Not pregnant: You said your blood and urine tests are negative so this means that you are not pregnant. To interpret the findings on the sonogram you will need to ask your physician or obtain a copy of the report. ...Read more

I had an ultrasound and was diagnosed with a uterine fibroid of 2.4cm. I tested for possible pregnancy and all three test came out positive.

I had an ultrasound and was diagnosed with a uterine fibroid of 2.4cm. I tested for possible pregnancy and all three test came out positive.

Uterine issues: Pregnancy can coincide with fibroids, although, ultrasound normally is able to reveal pregnancy unless it is way early in the course. Doing serial pregnancy hormone measurements may help determine whether the pregnancy is viable. Doing a repeat ultrasound in a week or two may help see the baby if it was too small at the time of the 1st ultrasound. ...Read more

My wife is three months pregnent. The ultrasound shows foetus is week what shud u prescribe is gud to be done for foetus growth?

Not sure: I'm not following your question exactly. I think you are saying that the growth of the fetus at 3 months isn't what is expected. If you've only had one scan, this could be due to the original dates being wrong. If not, watchful waiting is about all you can do. I'd recommend getting a followup scan in a couple weeks to see how growth is progressing. Good luck to you and your wife! ...Read more

My wife is three months pregnent. The ultrasound shows weak foetus growth.. What is best to be done now?

My wife is three months pregnent. The ultrasound shows weak foetus growth.. What is best to be done now?

Relax, see MFM.: If you are correct and your wife is only 3 months along, then poor fetal growth is highly unlikely. Erroneous dates of the pregnancy is a much more likely explanation for the findings. Seek mfm care to get more personalized answers. Your wife should get plenty of rest, eat liberally a balanced diet and take prenatal vitamins in the meantime. Best of luck! ...Read more
