Can a 4 month old get a cough and congestion from teething?

Can a 4 month old get a cough and congestion from teething?

I never use it: I find any scented material is more of an air pollutant in small kids than helpful. There airways are different than adults and often become more congested and or drain more when fragrances are used. I basically never recommend it .I can remember the stinky stuff my mom used when I was young, and still hate the smell. ...Read more

Depends: The fever often depends on the type of germ involved & where it is located. Many infant illnesses are viral & fever will last several days before recovery. As long as baby is taking in enough fluids to wet every 6hrs or better, is playful for much of the day & has no specific symptoms you can let it run its course. If baby can't seem to be playful at all, looks sickly or otherwise spooks you go in. ...Read more

Should i take my 6 month old daughter to the ER for congestion, cough ,watery eyes ,runny nose?

No: This is most likely a viral upper respiratory infection. First of all, if anyone in the house smokes, even outside, tell them to stop. Babies who grow up in households with smokers have increased rates of URI's, asthma, and SIDS. If not, then it will probably get better in 3-5 days. Use tylenol (acetaminophen) or ibuprofen for fever, and if she starts vomiting uncontrollably or she is unarousable, go to the ER. ...Read more

Are there any OTC cough suppressants that I can give my 2 year old son? He has a cough and congestion, no fever. He weighs 30 pounds.

Post nasal drip: Most of the cough is due to mucus draining from the nose into the back of the throat. Since cough medicine do not shorten the illness, the American Academy of Pediatrics has discouraged the use of any cough medicine in kids under 6 years.
