Lung (Definition)

Deoxygenated blood enters the lungs from the right side of the heart and travels to the lungs. When you inspire, oxygen flows into the lungs, transverses the capilliares and attaches to hemoglobin down a gradient. At the same time, co2 diffuses into the capilaries and is expelled with exhalation. Oxygen rich blood then flows to the left side of the heart and into the ...Read more

What is nodule 10mm in left lung mean?

What is nodule 10mm in left lung mean?

Many possibilities: This is a "spot" in the lung where there's a concentration of solid tissue. The spot may represent a focus of past or present immune activity against a particular germ such as TB or histoplasmosis, or a growth of some type. Most turn out to be harmless, but listen carefully to your doctor(s) re the best and safest way to evaluate the nodule. ...Read more

Got a 2cm nodule in my left lung. Can it be a hytadid cyst?

Got a 2cm nodule in my left lung. Can it be a hytadid cyst?

Lung nodule: The only way to find out for sure what it is is to do a biopsy. Depending on what the radiologists impression of the lung nodule is, we sometimes elect to do interval or followup imaging to see if the nodule is stable or not. Please discuss with the doctor who ordered the imaging test what the plan of action is. Best of luck. ...Read more

You're still alive: If the nodule was found ten years ago, and you had no illness as a result, then this is not cancer. If it were cancer, you might have a pretty good case. I'm glad it's not. Asbestosis itself presents as diffuse thickening of the lung texture, or of the pleural surfaces. Most lung nodules in non-smokers (hope that's you) are old histoplasmosis, which is harmless. Thanks for your service. ...Read more

I have diagnosed with a 3 mm lingular nodule probably representing granuloma. Mild fibrotic changes at the left lung base. Is this something I should worry about?

I have diagnosed with a 3 mm lingular nodule probably representing granuloma. Mild fibrotic changes at the left lung base. Is this something I should worry about?

Need to follow up: Follow up checks with X-Ray /CT scan is advised to be certain that it does not grow in size. Most likely it is benign in which case it will remain inactive and not grow in size. Unless you have watched/monitored it for the next 2-3 years, there will remain some concern that it could be an early form of lung Cancer although it is not very likely to be. ...Read more

Hi Dr.
I am 34 years old male , non smoker
I took chest radiograph before 2 weeks
I found that I have lung nodule 6*6mm
In my left lung ,thanks?

CT follow-up: Get a CT scan if not done yet. Isolated lung nodule of 6.6 mm is too small to be detected by PET-CT, and also too small to biopsy at this time. Your risk for primary lung cancer is relatively low given your young age and nonsmoker status. But I suggest you to see a lung doctor for opinion and CT follow-up. In addition, what did your MRI abd show? ...Read more

Many types of tumor: If a lung lesion was noted as solitary and no previous history of underlying disease with bx of mesothelioma then Asbestos has been associated with such lung lesions. Squamous Ca usually derived from smoking and adenoCa from a viral source. At this time worth while to get PET/CAT to assure all path absent from lung or metastatic foci. ...Read more

Yes important: Reticule nodular patterns are important for they imply a particular type of infection. You should have this investigated with your primary care doctor. ...Read more

I had colon cancer three years ago, now nodule on left lung. Could it be cancer again?

Yes: Depending on the Dukes classification as to extent of tumor into bowel wall and number of lymph nodes involved the chances of a lung lesion being metastasis is a possibility. A PET/CAT will help identify the lesion as met or not. If neg. careful follow up and possible biopsy might be necessary. ...Read more
