Rowing and cycling activities are heart friendly as well as joint friendly; good exercise for the cardiovascular system without beating up your joints. Reduce intensity: For now. Unless you have a family history of very premature heart disease you are unlikely to have significant ht disease @ ur age. But, there are no absolutes in medicine. Depends : On your heart rate. You should use the incline that will bring your heart rate to its maximum fat burning. Strain???: Hard to say if this is an injury that was waiting to show up, and the 10 mile run finally put you over the edge. Son 18 got pat tendonitis 6 weeks ago very cold outside pain only dull during treadmill now when weather warms up will recur or is it more in the cold?
Cold does not cause: Patella tendinitis refers to inflammation of the tendon connecting the kneecap to the shin bone. Cold weather does not cause but may make the thigh muscles (particularly the quadriceps ) feel tight. This will aggravate the already inflamed tendon. Start slow outside: Patella tendonitis can be a chronic problem and hard to get rid of. It usually takes backing off from the activity that caused in, relative rest then going back to activity slowly and in increments. If you can run on the tredmill with no problem you can start outside , best would be on a perma-traack like one found at a local high scjool or college.
