Do not worry: Night time enuresis is common. Usually there is a first degree relative (parent, aunt, uncle, cousin) who also we t the bed. After age 7 the best treatment I have found is a bed wetting alarm. Available at medical supply places, it still has the best track record for resolving this issue. ...Read more
My 5 year old daughter complains that her arm and legs hurt after she wakes up most mornings. Should i be worried?
No: Complaints of pain are not normal. This should be evaluated. Pain is the body's signal that something is not right. Growing pains can occur during growth spurts in adolescence, but would be uncommon in a 5 year old. If she is really having pain with out history of over use or trauma then a work up for juvenile rheumatoid arthritis or other musculoskeletal problem is appropriate. ...Read more

My 5 yr old son has been potty trained for years but has wet the bed 4 times this week. What could it be?
Normal : Occasional bed wetting can still be normal in a five yr old. Sometimes a change in sleep circumstances can lead to wetting, e.g., high level of exercise leading to increased depth of sleep , ingesting a great deal of fluids (as in a hot summer) before bedtime, drinking caffeinated beverages, nightmares. If the wetting persists, check it out with your pediatrician. ...Read more

My 6 year old son has been potty trained for over 3 years but is starting to poo his pants. Help!?
May be constipated: One of the most common reasons for pooping in his pants is the child is constipated, and has "overflow incontinence". If your child does not have a bm regularly, or is very quick in passing a bm, his large intestine may be full of poop, and he may be waiting until he can't hold it anymore. Check his stool pattern, and also find out why he is holding his bm's. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

My 5 yr old son has been potty trained for years but has wet the bed 4 times this week. What is going on?
Probably normal: Many children, up yo age 5 or 6 years "relepse" and have a few wet nights. Your son may have started to drink a lot beforegoing to bed. May be excessively tired and thus not have the sensation of a full bladder. Certainly have his urine checked in case of infection, however his urine would likely have a strong odor if infected. Utis in 5-y-o boys is quite rare. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My almost 4 yr old son has been potty trained x8 months no issues. He is now regressing, how do I know why? He even poops on the floor.
Emotional response: Most regression from accomplished skills are an emotional response to events the kid views as stressful. The appearance of a new sibling who consumes attention they held before will do it. Turmoil in the household.Their desire to go back to the way things were before, etc. At 4 you have the benefit of their talking & can ask.If resistant, a therapist can often find out in play therapy. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
