Our 6 year old has a fever for 5 days now with headache and body aches. Is a fever of 102 for 5 days unusual?
Needs Exam: It does sound like the flu. Could be a summer enterovirus, or possibly even influenza, it is now November. Push fluids, motrin as needed for headache and body aches. 5 year old son running fever (38 -39.8) for last 12 hrs. No other symptom. Giving him panadol (acetaminophen) every 6hrs. Temp hasn't gone to normal still.

Probable virus: It sounds like she may have a viral illness. The fever and headache can be part of it . Keep her hydrated and give her Tylenol (acetaminophen) according to label instructions. Yes: No urination is a sign of dehydration. Fever, vomiting and diarrhea are all ways to lose fluids, and if she's not drinking well, then she could become dehydrated very easily. Can do both: certainly giving someone their usual medications they have missed is generally helpful. Blood pressure medicines often lower blood pressure. 200 systolic is generally an indication for ER evaluation, however. Cannot say in your particular case.
