When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more
My fiance's ultrasound indicate she's 5 weeks pregnant & with yolk sac but no corpus luteum. Can this be treated? Can baby survive without it?
Yes: The corpus luteum is a cyst that forms on the ovary on the side where the egg that became fertilized came from. It typically provides Progesterone to support the baby early on before the placenta forms, but fairly often they are not seen and pregnancy progresses normally. The yolk sac has a similar job. At 5wks, a follow-up scan is needed to document normal growth and a heartbeat (7-8 wks). ...Read more
I am 5.5 weeks pregnant and the ultrasound shows a yolk sac but no embryo. My blood work came back normal. Should I be concerned?
Likely normal: At 5.5 weeks the ultrasound may not reveal the embryo just yet. Repeat ultrasound in 1 week and the embryo should be visualized then. Good luck. ...Read more

Ultrasound showed 5 weeks pregnant instead of 7 with no yolk sac n fetal pole gestational sac 1.6cm with corpus luteal cyst of preg 31mm miscarriage??
IVF, 7 weeks pregnant but scan shows 6 weeks, 1 five day blastocyst, I have 2 gesational sacs, one has a fetal pole and yolk sac and 2nd has nothing???
Repeat Ultrasound: After IVF, one can see several different scenarios. It is best to wait and repeat the ultrasound. Do not feel anything is wrong till a repeat ultrasound is done. Early ultrasounds can be confusing. Sometimes, twin pregnancies happen even with 1 blastocyst transfer as the blastocyst can divide. However, growth discrepancy can happen and one may survive and the other may not. Good Luck! ...Read more
At 5 weeks 2 days after ivf, is it normal to see only a gestational sac but no yolk sac? Gestational sac was 10mm
6w3d preg since LMP, scan show gastro sac but no yolk sac, what does that mean? Etopic pregnancy? Scared!
Gestational sac?: Do you mean gestational sac instead of Gastro sac? At 6+3 wks I would expect to see an embryo with a heartbeat. Since this is not the case the pregnancy is either not as far along or, worst-case scenario, it is a blighted ovum. this is just a stational sac without an embryo in it. Unfortunately this pregnancy would end in a miscarriage. Another ultrasound in a weeks time will provide an answer. ...Read more

I am 6w1d pregnant, im having bleeding, so they did an endovaginal ultrasound, I have a gestational sac, but no yolk sac or fetal pole, why?
It may be normal.: The delay in reaching the normal milestones we expect to see on ultrasound in early pregnancy are simply the result of a delayed ovulation, so that you are earlier than your dates suggest. On other occasions, it may be that the pregnancy is not doing well. Only time can really tell, because bleeding in pregnancy has little predictive value. On occasion, a blood test can be helpful. Time will tell. ...Read more

How soon can a moler pregnancy be ruled out. I'm 6.5 weeks, they see yolk sac, and embryo at 5.5 weeks?
Dr as per my LMP 5 w 2 days, today I had transvaginal scan and it was measuring sac of 4w6 days and yolk sac start to begin, means yolk sac small now?
Does a large yolk sac mean a higher risk of miscarriage? Us today, only 5 weeks 4 days, doc said a little early to see hb. Said large sac could be bad
Good doctor: Sounds like you have a good doctor. I figure he/she will repeat the ultrasound in two weeks. By that time you will see a heart beat. Around 12 to 14 weeks your doctor will send you for first screening, an ultrasound and fingerprick test. This is a screening test for chromosomal abnormalities, which can be associated with an abnormally large yolk sac. ...Read more
U/s at 6 wks 2 days showed yolk sac but no embryo and measurements of only 5.5 weeks. Used hcg trigger so exact dates- what are chances of viable baby?
Expect heart beat: With accurate dating, the ultrasound technology available and a skilled monographer a crown lump length should be measurable and a fetal heart beat demonstrable. If a transvaginal ultrasound in a week still does not show an embryo with a heart beat, I would be concerned that this is a non viable pregnancy. ...Read more

I did an ultra sound at 5 weeks 1 day. Saw ges. Sac and yolk sac only. No embryo. Is this a bad sign?
5 week ultrasound: It's too early to say. There's too little information. Once the gestational sac size reaches 24 mm, we'll be able to say for sure if things are going well or not. Another way of checking is with beta-hcg blood levels every 48 hours. The numbers should rise by about 66% percent each 48 hours. ...Read more
I had an ultrasound done, all she seen was a yolk sac and said it measured 5 weeks and 5 days. Is it normal not to see the fetal?
Good chance it's: Normal. A few days make a big difference at that gestational age. The more (or less) regular/certain your periods, the more difference it can make. At 5w5d most normal pregnancies will NOT have a heartbeat, but 2-4 days later will. Good wishes. ...Read more

7 weeks from LMP after clomid (clomiphene). Ultrasound today showed gest. Sac and yolk sac. Only measured 5 1/2 weeks. Not good is it?
At what week is it considered a blighted ovum? My wife is 5 weeks and 5 days no feta. Pole. No yolk sac ps she had a tranvaginial us ultrasound
Varies: It depends on the size of the gestational sac. If it's very small, then there is a chance she's just earlier than 5 5/7 weeks. But if the mean (average) gestational sac diameter is measuring larger and there is no yolk sac or pole, it more likely is an anembryonic pregnancy (blighted ovum). Talk to your OB about the measurements and whether you are just very early in preg. ...Read more
