Not necessarily: about 25% of all pregnancies will have some sort of bleeding, even perfectly normal ones. Keep an eye on it. If you start having severe pain or much increased bleeding, call your OB or go to the ER. Hope this helps! ...Read more

I'm so sorry: I'm so very sorry that happened to you. That must have been devastating emotionally to go through. Placental abruption is rare, but can occur again. I would have an extensive conversation with your ob/gyn about why you might have had the abruption in the first place (high blood pressure? medications? car accident? clotting disorder).
