Most likely, YES: Ultrasound is superior to your period in dating early pregnancy. A gestational sac is the first sonographic sign of pregnancy and appears about 4 1/2 weeks. Next is the yolk sac at about 5 weeks. The fetal pole with a heart beat at about 5 1/2 to 6 weeks. So, yes, it appears your pregnancy is progressing normally. ...Read more

Early pregnancy: The timing is right for a 5 week pregnancy but the HCG is much lower than may be normal. If you are not having any spotting, pain or bleeding, then repeating the ultrasound in 1 - 2 weeks will let you know definitively what is going on. Still, if any of the other symptoms occur, you should see your doctor. ...Read more

Both: Fetal age is of course the exact age of your fetus as determined by measurements taken of the baby. Fetuses have different rates of growth or may have problems with growth, so sometimes the measurement age doesn't match the "expected" gestational age. The best "age" is determined by an early ultrasound between 6 and 12 weeks gestation. Accuracy of ultrasound decreases as pregnancy progresses. ...Read more
TVUSG report says: "Bulky uterus with small subserous fibroids. Thickened endometrium. Small cysts in ovaries." Period late by 15days. Please advice?
Depends: I think the small subserous fibroids are a non-issue. More like an incidental finding. The rest (thickened endometrium, small cysts in ovaries, late period) can all be explained with something like polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). If you are trying to conceive then you will likely need to see a physician for help with ovulation induction (using medications). Losing weight can also help. ...Read more

U/s of left ovary was 23x15x29mm at 6wks pregnant.2mos postpartum it's 40x17x18mm with multiple bilateral follicles. No suspisous lesions or vascularity. How can it change in shape/size?
They do: Ovaries constantly change their size. Every month the ovary has a cyst grow (follicle) where the egg matures. The follicle grows from 5mm to 15-30 mm at time of ovulation, then the egg is released and the cyst size goes down. The ovay is very dynamic, making eggs, recruiting follicles for future cycles. What u described is quite normal. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
