U should not be 42 : Weeks! i never let my pts go that far- u need to be induced asap, the ideal time to deliver is 39-40 weeks- studies show baby has the least chance of going to nicu and everyone says u should not ever go past 42 weeks ! your baby is better off outside than in ! it would be a shame if something happened and I have seen it in other doc's and midwive's pts and the baby could have beeen out! ...Read more

Stimulant medication does cross the placental barrier to the fetus and the best example of the risk is seen in so called "crack babies" who suffer withdrawal right after birth in mothers who continue to use crack while pregnant. UTI: During pregnancy you want to be sure that the antibiotic used will not hurt the fetus. Stay away from tetracyclines and fluorinated quinolones. Best would be either an oral penicillin derivative (amoxicillin, etc.) or an oral cephalosporin, but Bactrim or septra (trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole) is probably ok although in fda category c, meaning do not use unless benefits outweigh risks. ...Read more
