My 4 year old daughter is complaining of ear ache she has a fever but is strangely scratching her head?
My 4yr old has an earache, our 1st. She's had a dose each of tylenol (acetaminophen) and Advil over the corse of the night anything else I can do?
Origin of pain: A 4 year old should be able to tell you where the pain is coming from. If it is from outside ear & pain increases if you tug on the ear it is a canal issue like swimmers ear=no fever. If it is from inside it may not be infected at all. Pain is produced when the ear drum stretches. This can happen if sucked in, like in an airplane ride, or pushed out with infection. An exam is needed to sort it out ...Read more

Pain relief: At 3 a kid can benefit from Ibuprofen in proper doses every 6-8 hours. Letting them snuggle with a heating pad at low heat can sometimes diffuse the pain. Persistence in discomfort after 3 days is worth an evaluation for purulent otitis which requires abx for proper healing. Untreated otitis may self heal or go on to chronic mastoid disease & hearing loss. ...Read more
Nope: Don't do it. Have the earache checked out by a doctor to determine the cause. Most earaches in 3 yr olds involve the middle ear, so anything one put in the outer ear canal wouldn't help anyway. Even if the problem is in the outer ear, don't use eye medications in the ear. No shortcut here. Get the proper medicine and use it according to doctor's instructions. Hope the little one feels better soon. ...Read more
For now: A simple temporary plan includes a dose of Ibuprofen followed by placing a heating pad on a low setting near the affected ear. The brain seems to sense the warm better & it can decrease the pain. I would take her in to be evaluated by her pcp in the office or an urgent care center during regular hours. ...Read more

What happens if by accident I put earache drops in the eye of my 8 year old... The drops says pulsatilla, chamomilla, sulphur, belladona and lycopodiu?
Eardrops in eyes: First, you should flush the eyes with large amounts of water (not hot) to remove as much of the eardrops as possible. Belladona may cause the pupils to dilate & cause blurry vision & sensitivity to light. Pulsatilla, depending on how much is absorbed, can lower heart rate & bp; it may bring on vomiting/diarrhea/convulsions. Other ingredients: uncertain effects. Take child to eye doc for evaluatio. ...Read more
4 days ago I took my 6 year old to the emergency do to an earache she had an infection and was giving amoxil (amoxicillin) but today her ear started bleeding. ..
Few possibilities: There are a couple of possible origins for this bleeding. The infection may have pushed through the ear drum and in doing so caused some bleeding from the injured drum. Some kids get a q-tip or other object and traumatize the canal trying to get at the ache. Either way a followup exam is needed to clarify the issue. A regular office visit with someone who knows the kid would be best. ...Read more
My 3 year old complained of an earache and sore throat. Also had a fever of 101 for two days. Is this just a normal flu?
Hello, I am a 48 year old female. 3 weeks ago I had an intense earache in my left ear. I also physically could not lay on it as well as shooting pain. My MD although no sign of fluid thought perhaps I had a sinus infection and prescribed an antibiotic. N
Earache: What you are describing is quite common. If your ear drum looked pretty normal, it isn't likely you have an ear infection. A sinus infection could cause ear pain, but you would also expect to have nasal congestion, facial pressure and/or pain as well as nasal discharge. You are more likely suffering from pain in your jaw joint. To make sure, you should really have an exam by an ear specialist. ...Read more
8 year old daughter woke up with sinus pain, sore throat, earache, congestion. What can I give her to treat the symptoms? She is extremely healthy, has never had sinus symptoms before. No fever yet.
There are a few things you can do to treat a cold caused by an upper respiratory virus.
- voice rest - probably the best thing you can do for a sore throat and raspy voice.
- drink plenty of fluids and stay hydrated
- hot tea with honey and lemon
- chicken noodle soup - our grandmas were right! Research shows that chicken noodle soup is very helpful in treating a cold.
- or just a spoon-full of honey - honey has been shown to be as effective a cough suppressant as many over the counter medications
- inhale steam from a shower or cool mist from a vaporizer
- Acetaminophen and/or Ibuprofen can help with inflammation and throat, ear and sinus pain
symptoms from a cold virus should start to improve after a few days. If it does not, of if she gets worse or has any difficulty breathing, call her doctor. You should also call her doctor if the sore throat worsens (could be strep) or if her ear pain worsens (ear infection) or for any new fevers or rash. ...Read more
My 13 year old daughter gets swollen glands a lot, is this normal? She doesn't have a sore throat or earache or anything else with it.
Most likely benign.: First, I have to know what is swollen: glands (such as salivary) or lymph nodes. Then, how often are they swollen, and for how long each time? Are they always in the same place, and are they painful if you touch them? She has no sore throat or earache, but does she have fever? Chills? Unusual sweating? Has she lost weight? If she truly has no symptoms, ok. But if she has, she should see her doctor. ...Read more

My daughter has an earache. She is 10 1/2 years old and weighs between 65-70 pounds. I gave her 1 200 mg ibuprofen. Would it be ok to give her another?
Is it likely that my nine-year-old son's ear ache is related to the MRSA he had ten days ago or swimming?
? Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim)?: Have a pediatrician see the baby. This could be a very serious ear infection which is not responding to this antibiotic. Although not as likely, this sulfonamide containing antibiotic has a high frequency of allergies associated with its use. Get the 3 year old checked asap. ...Read more
My 37 year old is screaming with ear ache has been to two doctors today. Only gave her ear drops. What shall I do?
Different/more meds.: I am not sure why he is having so much pain--inner ear infection usually not intensely painful. Swimmer's ear can be quite painful. I am not sure what drops he got, but must find out what is causing his his pain. There is "novacaine drops" which can help with pain fast. Tmj can also cause pain, so is shingle. Add motrin/tylenol which may help, and re-consult doc as soon as you need to. Good luck. ...Read more

Ear ache with sharp pain in left ear, moderate to severe in my 12 year old son who has history of surgery in left ear.
Your question is???: Sounds like you need to have the kid seen by a doc. Severe pain in the ear could be an infection of the middle ear, or the ear drum itself or both. It might also be a canal infection. Occasionally jaw joint pain can show up as ear pain. With all the possibilities only a hands on exam can sort it out. ...Read more
