4 year old has speech delay, we did blood tests and Vitamin D was 14, B12 was 1200 and IgE was 192, every other tests normal, can these cause delay?

Maby: Most speech and language specialists will do an oral motor exam as part of their evaluation. If the tip if the child's tongue can easily reach the sites within the mouth needed to form the letters a frenulotomy may not help. If you haven't had a speech evaluation done, i would do so. The therapist can help you decide to proceed with the procedure if they feel it would be helpful. ...Read more

Not an issue: This is a curious disorder of older school age kids and adolescents. At 3, various forms of speech and language delay, verbal apraxia etc are more common and relevant. An evaluation by a developmental pediatrician and speech and language pathologist would give you more information. ...Read more

Yes: Depending on where you adopted from the child can be quite delayed. Especially babies from the European Eastern block (Russia, Romania) who have been in an orphanage can be definitely delayed. Same with most children adopted from China. ...Read more

I've never seen it: I've dealt with the issue for three decades & never seen it as a primary cause. If the kid has a sleep disorder related to sleep apnea/tonsil size i could see it causing chronic health problems, but not changing the emergence of speech & language skills in a kid that was ready. ...Read more

Speech delay: I am sorry2hear this. I am sure he has been worked up by his pediatrician or sent u for a consultation 4a developmental assessment. There r providers who provide speech therapy and my patients usually have significant improvement form this. As far as the wax build up goes, since he has tubes in his ears, all u can do is clean with a tissue, make sure u don"t use q-tips, they push wax further back. ...Read more
