Father has multiple small lung nodules. Does not smoke. Had pneumonia several times and scarring from it on lungs 25 yrs ago. Is 70. Risk of cancer?
My father has been diagnosed with bowel cancer that has spread to the lungs and liver. Surgery is not being offered only chemotherapy. Prognosis pls?
My dad has a lung nodule that has been stable for 5 years. This year the CT scan showed it grew 1mm. Can CT measurements be wrong?
Yes, it is not exact: Growing lung nodules can be cancer. But the growth has to be real which means increase of more than 2-3 mm before we can get concerned. The cross sections on ct are rarely at the same level so there is one or 2 mm variation between serially done ct scans. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

My brother 51 years old has got lung cancer that has spread to bones spine, aggresive. No treatment worked but they don't no what cancer it is.
Seek expert Help: We can help you if you send us his complete information. I suspect he has cancer of unknown primary site(?). It is called cup and it means the doctors are unable to find where it started and then spread into bones and lungs. He could get a second opinion at a major cancer center where gene profiling can be done; that often indicates the primary site of origin of cup. This may further guide treatm. ...Read more
2mm sublpureal lung nodule in periphery base.28/f 10yr smoker, quit 4 years ago. Found by accident on ct. Petrified its cancer. What are the chances?
Probably not cancer: Congratulations on stopping smoking! at your age, your risk of lung cancer will be low if you stay off cigarettes. A 2mm sub pleural nodule is likely benign. You should have another ct scan within 4 to 6 months to assure that it isn't growing. If it is not, you can safely put it out of your mind forever or just do one more ct scan one year later. If growing, have it removed to rule out cancer. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Two small soft tissue masses found in my nasopharynx. what is the chance they are cancer given that my brother has been diagnosed for NPC recently?
Unlikely: But possible. Brother with NPC does not really raise your risk unless of course you share the same risk factors. Your doc should have been able to look at these on CT scan or on nasopharyngoscope and give you a better read. A good look is better than any risk factor analysis.... ...Read more
My friend has had surgery for colon cancer but has been told she possibly has another 5cm tumour attached to the aorta.... can this be removed too?
Probably not: If this is "adenocarcinoma of the colon", then the tumor next to the aorta represents growth outside the wall of the colon, which means it isn't possible to cure this with surgery. However, it is important to confirm that the mass is a recurrence or extension of the primary colon cancer. If so, then radiation and chemotherapy can help, but are not likely to cure the cancer. ...Read more

71 yr old with lung ca that has metastasized to bone and brain. has been on various types of chemo for 2 years. life expectancy?
2-8 months: Untreated brain metastases patient's survival estimate is may be 2 months.
