38 Weeks Pregnant 1 Cm Dilated
When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more
Breathless?: Are you short of breath? Are you bleeding? If the answer to either of those is "yes" (or even, "I'm not sure"), you should call your OB right now.
This my 2nd pregnancy 1 was medically induced never dilated past 2 CM this 1 I'm 38 weeks pregnant and still only 1 1/2 CM dilated what 2 do 2 dilate?
Exercise: Various exercises can help dilate your cervix. Simple walking around the block is helpful. Ding exercises with an exercize ball can also be hrlpful.
Clear water drops and one time small fresh blood spot period like cramping is it labor or something else at 38 weeks pregnancy?
Obgyn evaluation: You will need to contact your Obgyn to arrange an evaluation. Since you are near term you will need to make sure you did not break your water. You could just be dilating and passing your mucous plug. An evaluation will be needed to determine what is going on.
I am 38 weeks pregnant and dialated to 1 1/2 CM, . I have been feeling jolts of sharp pain in my pelvic area for two days is this the start of labor?
Probably: These are probably some type of labor pains. You're just starting, so these may likely pass before too long.
Not relevant: When we are checking blood counts during pregnancy, assuming that the basic counts related to hemoglobin, hematocrit and platelets are normal for pregnancy, then we really do not spend too much time looking at these individual parameters related to red blood cells. If there is a more specific problem being asked, please ask!
Normal: Mucus discharge in pregnancy is very inconsistent. Sometimes there is a lot and sometimes there isn't. Both are normal. Best wishes!
Would a D&C be performed if a mother is miscarrying at 37/38 weeks pregnancy? And if so, how soon before the patient is discharged?
Term pregnancy: At that point, the pregnancy is full term and will be "stillborn." A sad situation and I feel for her. She will likely have her labor induced and deliver vaginally if possible. The length of stay in the hospital will be similar to one for a regular birth. This assumes the mother doesn't have a complication such as an infection.
Am in my 38 weeks pregnancy and 4 days. My blood pressure was in the noon 149/68 and heart rate 114 is it nessicary to go to hospital and be paranoid.
Call OB: You are not being paranoid. But, it sounds like you do not understand what to do in this type of situation. Please contact or page your OB and give them your situation and vital signs. They will tell you what they want you to do next.
I have 38 weeks pregnant, I have been in an out of the hospital with contractions and pains but im only 3cm an 50%. how can I help dilate?
Leave it alone: You cannot. Please do not do anything to harm your cervix or the baby. Let nature take it's course. The baby is not ready to deliver yet.
I'm 38 weeks pregnant. Placenta is now clear of cervix, but close enough that if I dilate, i'll most likely bleed. Is orgasm (w/o penetration) safe?
May be: You are near term with a risk of bleeding. I would recommend holding off on sexual activity till after delivery.See 1 more doctor answer
Is it a mistake to be induced at 38 weeks sharp? Husband can't be present if we wait. 2nd pregnancy. Cervix dialated but not effaced. Dr. Says "ok".
Not recommended: In the recent past, we were seeing increased admissions to the nicu because of 'social' inductions. The american college of obstetricians and gynecologists do not recommend inductions at less than 39 weeks unless there is a medical issue like high blood pressure, diabetes, etc. Although you might have a high chance of successful induction, there is a slight increased chance of baby complications.
I am 38 weeks pregnant and miserable. Not dialated at all yet is there anything I can do other then the obvious (sex, walk etc.) to get dialated?
38 weeks: You are right there is nothing really to do other than the obvious things you mentioned. Babies tend to come when they come. I know you are miserable and want this baby to come, I'm sure your doctor has told you studies have shown that elective inductions in first time moms before 41 weeks and other moms before 39 weeks result in more complications. As I tell my OB patients they always come out.
Spotting at 38 weeks I am now 38 weeks pregnant today (1.20.2012) and went to my ob this past tuesday. She checked to see if I was dialated any and said I was maybe about 1cm. I got home and went to the bathroom. I started spotting. I am still spotting a l
Spotting: Spotting after a digital exam in office is very common. Make sure the baby is moving a minimum of 10xs within a 2 hour period. If the spotting increases or persists PLEASE call your OB.See 1 more doctor answer
Hi I'm 38 weeks pregnant alot of pelvic pressure and I wasn't dialted at my last ob what can I do?
I am 38 weeks pregonant and having discharge and lost my plug I am dialted to a 3 and 80% effaced should I go to l&d?
Call your OB: Almost all OB docs have an answering service. If no regular contractions and the discharge isn't gushes of water or trickles of water, you probably don't need to go in as being 3cm/80% and losing mucus plug doesn't necessarily equal labor. Call your docs office to see if he/she has an answering service. If no service call labor and delivery and ask them how to reach your provider.
I'm 38 weeks almost 39 pregnant. And I'm 1 CM dilated & 40%. Thick yellow discharge and leaking clear fluid in one position. Tested not amniotic. Norm?
Could be: You'll have to see your doctor or be evaluated on labor and delivery. You may simply be passing your mucous plug. They will need to make sure you did not break your water
I am 39 weeks pregnante with my first child. I am totally effaced but only one CM dilated. How can I start to dialate quicker?
Regular activity.: It unfortunately takes as long as it takes to go into active labor. You cannot rush these things. Regular activity as tolerated, including sexual intercourse unless prohibited by your physician (or mood), is reasonable advice. Patience is a virtue. Keep all prenatal care appointments. Good luck!
Hi. I'm 38 weeks and 5 days pregnant now. And my cervix is open at 1 cm. Is still be okay. How longer it could be?
Still some time: With your first pregnancy, it is quite likely that you will carry to 40 wks or even later. 1 cm dilated means you've made some progress and your cervix is starting to soften, but the process to go into active labor can still be weeks away. Call your provider if you have contractions every 5 minutes for an hour long, or any bleeding, or decreased fetal movement. Congrats on your upcoming arrival!
I'm 38 weeks tomorrow 1 CM dilated and 70% effaced. For the last 2 days have been having constant menstural like cramps and dull back pain. What to do?
Time the Contraction: Time the contractions and if they become regular and under the guidelines your OB gave you you phone or page them for when to go to the labor room.
