Significance of low co2 (17mEq/l) and high anion gap (19mEq/l) in late (37 weeks) pregnancy? All other tests in metabolic panel within normal limits.

Significance of low co2 (17mEq/l) and high anion gap (19mEq/l) in late (37 weeks) pregnancy? All other tests in metabolic panel within normal limits.

Reason for checking: I suppose the answer would vary depending on why it was checked. If there were certain symptoms or problems then the tests need to be analyzed in that context. Simply looking at only these numbers with no context they do not appear particularly abnormal for the 3rd trimester of pregnancy. The doctor who ordered them will be in the best position to interpret them. ...Read more

I am 37 weeks pregnant and experiencing lower back spasm pains, and uncomfortably hot and profusely sweating ?

I am 37 weeks pregnant and experiencing lower back spasm pains, and uncomfortably hot and profusely sweating ?

Painful: That sounds painful. For the lower back, you can consider massage, a warm bath, a heating pad, a maternal support (girdle or belt). As far as the heat and sweating is concerned, you may need to drink more. Hopefully you're not coming down with a cold or flu. Take your temperature and make sure you don't have a fever. If your doctor hasn't checked your thyroid, that maybe another cause. ...Read more

Im 37 weeks pregnant with my 4th baby. I havent had a bowel movement in a month and now Im having night sweats. Im also having tightening in my belly?

You need a laxative: It is not a good idea to go a month without a bowel movement, especially when you are pregnant, which obviously takes up a lot of pelvic and abdominal space already. You should take daily Metamucil with lots of water and use daily products such as Milk of Magnesium(at least a tablespoon) and Miralax(by the directions) if no results with MOM. If unsuccessful, see your OB or family doc ASAP! ...Read more
