35 weeks pregnant, having cold & feeling sharp pain in my abdomen while coughing. Is it normal? Or should I contact my ob? Thanks for any help.

Contact OB: This does not sound terribly concerning, but not knowing anything about your history, I would think that it would be reasonable to contact your doctor. ...Read more

The cough reflex is a protective mechanism that uses muscles in your throat and chest to expel mucous and saliva that may contain pathogens that would otherwise possibly be inhaled via aerosol or to expel pathogens infecting the throat and respiratory system. Cough benefits the host by reducing load and benefits the pathogen which may then spread via aerosol. ...Read more

Worsening: Worsening abdominal pain during pregnancy is a reason to call your ob/gyne doctor or go to the emergency room. There are many benign things it could be: muscle cramping, ligament pain, kidney stone, intestinal problem or it could be something more dangerous. You should be seen as soon as possible to rule out a problem with the baby. ...Read more

I'm 35 weeks pregnant but ultrasound shows babys head at 36 w, abdomen 34, femur 33weeks 5 days... Should I be concerned? ?

No: All of those datings are within the margin of error for 35 weeks. Dating by measurements in the third trimester is quite unreliable and as you see with your baby, can vary by several weeks either way. Congratulations, and you are almost there - get lots of rest and pamper yourself before your time is up! ...Read more

I am 35 weeks pregnant & have a dry non productive cough, sore throat & sore chest can I take musinex dm & cepacol at the same time?

Check with your doc: Pregnancy is always a tough issue. We do not want to put the child into danger. Mucinex (guaifenesin) and cepacol will probably not help much anyway. Hall's are over the counter and probably ok. ...Read more

35 weeks pregnant, horrible lingering cough from bronchitis. Nothing seems to help, doc out of town, any advice on what to take? Been 4 weeks.

Z pack: If it were me I would seek out another clinic or physician who can prescribe a z pack or similar medication for the bronchitis. Pregnancy lowers your immune system, and if you've been suffering for 4 weeks, it's time to add an antibioitic. Maybe even a little steroid. I'll let your primary care doctor be the judge of your prescription, but defnitely be seen and get a prescription. ...Read more

I'm 35 weeks pregnant and I have had a cold for the past couple of weeks and just the past few days my cold has went away but the cough stayed...

Not to worry.: If you had cough and cold, you probably have a virus infection. There is no cure for this type of infection. The cold is gone so you are already getting better. Cough might take a while to go away. As long as you don't have fever and chest pain, don't worry. Due to your pregnancy avoid any type of medicines if you can. ...Read more

35 weeks pregnant: Not uncommon at 35 weeks. Hopefully you see your obstetrician regularly to discuss this. If not please make an appointment or at least call the office.

35 weeks pregnant. Previously diagnosed with bronchiectasis. Now having strep throat and coughing with green mucus. Wondering if dtor's prescrip of co azithromycin250 mg for 5 days can treat both?

Depends....: If the bacteria causing the strep throat and bronchitis are sensitive to the azithromycin, then it will treat both. But, because of the bronchiectasis, you may have some lung bacteria that may not be sensitive to azithromycin. So, if the green sputum persists, or if your symptoms worsen, see your doctor again. You may need a sputum culture to find out what bacteria are causing the bronchitis! ...Read more

What do you advise if I am 35 weeks pregnant with severe pain in my left side of hip bone at night mostly?

What do you advise if I am 35 weeks pregnant with severe pain in my left side of hip bone at night mostly?

Lots of Reasons: When pregnant, there are so many things going on. Your hormones are very different causing your ligaments to stretch quite a bit especially in the pelvis resulting in pain. Also the baby's position can place stress on your spine resulting in bulging discs or even herniated disks causing the sciatica pain. Pregnancy (Definition)

When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more
