33 Day Menstrual Cycle
20 year old female, menstrual cycle has dropped from 33 days in length in February to just 11 days this time. What could be causing this?
The menstrual cycle begins with the shedding of the uterine lining, resulting in bleeding from the vagina. If the egg is not fertilized, the egg will leave your body and ...Read more
First, sorry for my weak english. I have a question for my menstrual cycle. I know that the best menstrual cycle is every 28 days, but my mrnstrual cycle is every 33 or 36 or sometimes till 40 days. I have to mention that I am 23 years old. So I think it
Pls finish question: Hi! There is no "best" cycle. 28-day cycle is the average with normal being from 21 to 35 days. If your cycles are 33-36 days but pretty regular they are probably ovulatory but if they are more irregular then ovulation may not be occurring which is not a health problem unless you are trying to get pregnant. So it depends on what exactly bothers you about your periods. (your english is fine!) ...Read more

Anovulation?: Just because periods are occurring monthly, ovulation is not guaranteed. Your first step is to determine presumptive ovulation with a Basal Body Temperature chart or Ovulation Predictor kit. If no success by one year for conception consider seeing a Fertility MD for both of you. (GYN for you Urologist or FP for him). Ovulation can be severely inhibited by your obesity. ...Read more
I am 33 yrs old. Miscarried at 10th week. Underwent D and C procedure. Any risks to conceive after 1 menstrual cycle or should I wait for 2-3 cycles?
Depends: Have they checked your Hemoglobin or Hematocrit levels? After a D&C for miscarriage it's possible to have anemia (low hemoglobin levels in blood). Symptoms of anemia are dizziness, fatigue, fainting episodes, fast heart rate. If you feel completely fine then waiting only one menstrual cycle should be fine. If you are having symptoms of anemia then wait 2-3 cycles. ...Read more

I: I can understand your concern as that is a very unusual menstrual cycle. Please take a pregnancy test to be sure that isn't the cause, but it sounds unlikely. Please have your thyroid hormones checked to be sure you are not hypothyroid. It is also important to be sure you are receiving adequate nutrition, as patient's with malnutrition can have irregular cycles. That is a very long time to go without a period so I advise that you do see a gynecologist and have this completely evaluated. ...Read more

See details: Assuming that you are not pregnant, d&c's rarely provide long term correction of bleeding problems. They are helpful at stopping bleeding quickly and diagnosing some endometrial disorders, but they will not correct bleeding from hormonal disorders or structural causes such as polyps and fibroids. I would recommend additional evaluation if a specific cause has not been determined. ...Read more

Due date 3/13/16: Your question is cut off, but I just wanted to say that the due date from your period matches up very well with your ultrasound done at 7 weeks, indicating that the due date of 3/13/16 is accurate. The earliest ultrasound is the best one to confirm due date. Every ultrasound the "due date" may show slightly different based on the size of the baby, but we don't change from the original due date. ...Read more
