If the scar is becoming raised, it may have become a keloid and need injections to flatten again. Finally, in that area, yeast infections can occur over a scar and make the area red. ITCHING: Unfortunately, itchy postoperative wounds are common. There is much debate about the underlying cause. My advice, since it appears that over-the-counter remedies are not working and it continues to be bothersome for you, is that you follow up with a dermatologist. Could be a cyst: A cyst, neuroma, or hypertrophic scar could be causing pressure on on sensory nerves in the area of the scar with exertion (exercise). After 5 years, your scarring is mature, so if you are having persistent symptoms, you may want to consider a scar excision/revision to hopefully improve/relieve your intermittent pains (typical of nerve pain). If family is complete, tummy tuck may be appropriate. ...Read more
