All babies reflux : As long as she is growing well, and does not experience pain or choking then the spitting up can be ignored, and she will outgrow it. Bright purple: Continue to observe him and if it continues take him and a sample into his doctor's office. Was he given anything else? Like Tylenol (acetaminophen)? Also check the Colorado of his stools and urine. All the best. Bad reflux is hard to treat but he should get better. Make sure he is growing and often small frequent feeds without burping work best, along with thickened feedings. ...Read more

Thicken Feeds: You can try thickening the feeding with one teasoon of rice cereal per ounce of formula, feed the baby just a smaller feeding and more often, elevate the head of the bed, and keep him upright between feedings as much as possible. Usually physiologic: Not uncommon for spitting up to occur in infants. If vomiting occurs several hours after eating then usually problem with slow gastric emptying. If infant gaining weight and not having airway or lung problems usually physiologic. If infant stops eating or loses weight than an issue. With maturity usually reflux or vomiting lessens.
