3 Month Old Poop
3 month old pooping once a day dark green being formula fed along with breastfeeding is this normal?
3 month old pooping once a day started teething has been constipated for 2 days now. I've tried stimulation with a qutip Karo syrup apple baby food. ?
Constipation: Best not to use Karo syrup in a 3 month old because the immune system isn't mature yet. No Qtip stimulation. Baby products prune juice is a good idea. Make sure the baby is taking in fluids well. 2 days is not worrisome unless the baby is uncomfortable or the stools are hard and painful to pass. May be time to visit your pediatrician. ...Read more
Breast or formula ?: Breast fed infants can go a little every feed or overflow a diaper once a week. If it is soft when they go i don't worry about it. Formula fed babies usually have a more predictable pattern of daily stools. If stools are getting hard, i often try full strength prune juice, 1oz once or more/d.Takes about 3d to get things moving. ...Read more
Why does my 3 month olds poop have mucus in it&she poops 4-5 times a day but only a little bit?" shes been pooping like this for a week
Typically : Typically mucous in a baby's stool is due to mucous that was swallowed by the baby. However if the problem persists, your baby should be evaluated by her pediatrician. There are certain disorders of malabsorption that can result in this. The fact that it's of new onset and has only been for a week likely indicates the former. If you are concerned, please visit the doctor. Take care. ...Read more
My 3 month old only poops maybe once a day or day and a half.. Is that ok? She's not in pain or anything just checking..
My 3 month old keeps pooping and won't eat. She doesn't show signs that her stomach is hurting. What could be wrong?
Hard to tell: Babies can have a soft or loose bowel movement every feeding, or a couple of times a day, and still be normal. If she's not eating, check with her doctor to find out if she is sick. What milk is she taking? Has there been any change? Any fever. Baby's don't always show obvious signs of illness, but a change in eating or sleeping should be checked out. ...Read more
My 3 month old sons poop has turned dark brown with white chunks in it. He is formula fed enfamil with baby oatmeal in it. His stools have increased?
Brown is OK!: Baby poop is lots of different colors and can change from day to day for any baby. One day brown, one day yellow, one green. The worrisome colors are dark black after the first few days of life (cuz your first poop is blackish meconium), red poop or pure white poop. I suppose purple would be weird too! as his digestive tract matures, consistency will also vary. And yes, baby poop stinks! ...Read more
My daughter is 3 months old she poops once a day sometimes every other day..is that normal or okay?
Normal: It is normal for infants to stool daily or every other day at her age. Breast-fed infants will even go for 4-5 days sometimes. Don't worry about the frequency and how hard she seems to be working when she does go. What is important is the consistency of the stool. As long as it is soft and not painful to her, this is normal. If she has hard balls in her stool, that can be a sign of constipation. ...Read more
My 3 month old daughter isnt pooping everyday like I think she should. When she was born she was going at least 3 times pooping. Should I be worried?
Probably not: How often a baby poops changes in the first few months of life. At first they go frequently almost every time they eat and then it decreases to 1 to 4 times per day in the first year. If she is on formula or you have recently switched this may cause less pooping Look for signs that she is straining to go and also at her belly to see if it looks bloated. If she were to start vomiting see a doctor ...Read more

Normal variation: The main agent adding color to the poo is the material made by the liver called bile. It starts out a dark green and goes thru the yellows to brown depending on the influences of various factors in the intestines. Rapid transit thru the system, as may occur with diarrhea or breast feeding may have a greenish yellow or yellow appearance. The slower, more likely browner. ...Read more
My 3 months old baby doesn't poop sometimes 24 hours or more and he has belly botton hernia, should I be concerned?
No worry....: Constipation in babies is not how often you poop, but consistency of poop. If stools are soft/mushy when they are passed, nothing to worry about. Only need to be concerned if stools are hard and formed. Belly button hernias are quite common - if you think about, everyone is born with one so the cord can protrude through the gap in the muscles. Very few to on to need any surgical intervention. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

My 3 month old who is breastfed only poops once every 5 days and by the last couple days she is so uncomfortable, what can I do to fix it or help her?
Breast feeds: Breast fed infants can go a little every feed or overflow a diaper once a week. If it is soft when they go i don't worry about it. Babies fuss for a lot of reasons including gas, so irregularity is not always the cause.
