Is creamy like peanut butter poop normal for 3 month old baby who hasn't pooped in a week but normally does every other day & more loose?

Probably OK: It is not unusual for babies to have change in stool pattern as they grow. . Also, it is normal for breastfed babies to have longer periods of time with no stools. Breast milk is the perfect baby food, thus there is less "waste" so to speak. If the baby's stomach is not distended, and he has a large soft stool infrequently this is not constipation requiring intervention. OK if bottle-fed too. ...Read more

Could be: The first thing I would want to make sure is that your child is gaining weight appropriately and thriving. That decision can be best made with your child's doctor who will know what formula your child is and/or has been on. Good luck. ...Read more

Hello. my 3 month old baby is extremely constipated. exclusively on formula and only has a bowel movement once every 2-3 days and straining alot?

Soft or hard ?: If the kid is passing pebbles it is extracting too much water from the poop which is what the colon does. An ounce of prune juice 1-4 times a day (spread out) should get things moving in a few days. If the poop is soft, the "strain" may just be the effort a kid using flabby belly muscles & pushing from the breathing muscle needs to poop. They don't have gravity to help. ...Read more

Common: The list of causes for fussiness is endless, but pretty common for young infants. 3 month old baby doing green potty with mucus 4 times day after. Strickly breast feed but last week 1 time fed with formulae.

It depends!: The frequency, color and consistency of normal infant stools vary a lot. Green is not abnormal. Mucous can reflect inflammation, as in bacterial stool infection or an allergic problem. If your baby's stools became more frequent and contained mucous only after a bottle of formula, it may be a milk protein allergy. If the baby is feeding and acting well, I'd keep nursing and talk to the doctor. ...Read more
