3 Hour Glucose Tolerance Test Results
When one takes a drug, such as heroin or alcohol, repeatedly, 'tolerance' develops because more of the drug is needed to give the same effect on the body/brain; e.g. Liver enzymes r stimulated to metabolize the drug faster and faster. There may be a strong genetic predisposition to addiction, some studies suggesting that 1 of 10 people will become dependent on alcohol or some ...Read more
My glucose tolerance test results are:
fasting: 100 mg/dl, 1hr: 148mg/dl, 2hr: 128 mg/dl. My hbc1a : 5.7.
I am concerned....Am i prediabetes?
Probably not: The fasting glucose of 100 and hba1c of 5.7 are borderline high, the other tests are normal. Diabetes is defined by fasting glucose above 125 or post prandial glucose above 200, or hba1c above 6.5%. People with prediabetes will typically also have triglycerides above 150, HDL cholesterol under 50 in a female, hypertension, and obesity. ...Read more
My glucose tolerance test results : fasting = 105; 1 hr. post swallow = 188; 2 hr. post = 158; 3 hr. post = 55; 4 hr. post = 57; a paradox? A1c = 5.4%
IFG & IGT: Hi. You meet criteria for pre-diabetes on the basis of impaired fasting glucose (IFG) and impaired glucose tolerance (IGT). Your A1c is not yet abnormal, but you see how your glucose goes into the 50's a few hours after a challenge; that offsets the A1c, making it a less sensitive test for diabetes. Eat healthy, exercise regularly, and talk with your doc about possible medications to prevent diabe ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

You should be following a low concentrated sweets diet. If overweight, you need to lose weight. Exercise. You may also need medication based on other lab results. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I am prediabetic with higher blood sugar and insulin levels. L just had a 3 hour glucose tolerance test. Fasting sugar is 63, insulin is 2. Meaning?
Doesn't matter: The numbers aren't really important or valuable. If you're overweight and have high glucose (particularly with a positive family history) you need education, diet, exercise, weight reductio and maybe medication -- not just a diagnosis. The diagnosis doesn't help you get healthier. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
The blood sugar concentration or blood glucose level is the amount of glucose (sugar) present in the blood of a human or animal. The body naturally tightly regulates blood glucose levels as a part of metabolic homeostasis. Glucose is the primary source of energy for the body's cells, and blood lipids (in the form of fats and oils) are primarily ...Read more
