24 y/o fm, flu +, tamiflu (oseltamivir) side effect of diarrhea, day 1 menses, 103* temp. Poss kidney pain/cramp, acid bubbles in stomach related to fever reducer?

Usual flu s/s: What you are describing are pretty typical influenza signs and symptoms. Even though you are on tamiflu, (oseltamivir) these are not going to disappear today or tomorrow. Tamiflu (oseltamivir) reduces the length of illness by a day or two, but until then, you will feel like you do and run fever as you are. If the urinary symptoms worsen, make sure you have not developed a urinary tract infection on top of things. ...Read more

3 month old baby's third week of RSV. Now cough sounds like croup although she's been receiving albuterol-nebulizer treatments (6x/day for 4 days, 3x/?

Hang in there!: We usually try albuterol treatments for RSV in babies. About one third of babies respond. As long as she is not spiking a fever now and her breathing is stable, she has 3 wet diapers daily, hang in there another week. Start to finish, this is a month long illness! Keep all your followup appointments with her pediatrician. I'm glad she's doing well at home! You are doing a great job! ...Read more

Period 3 weeks late . Usually 2 to 3 weeks apart. Lmp august 26. 3 negative hpt. Sore breast and migraines. Started fertility pills in august. Ideas?

5yr son received measles vaccine at 9 months & MMR 1st doze at 15 months & MMR 2nd doze due but had close contact with measles virus & now fever on&of?

5yr son received measles vaccine at 9 months & MMR 1st doze at 15 months & MMR 2nd doze due but had close contact with measles virus & now fever on&of?

Vitamins A & C: A child with 2 doses of measles vaccine is unlikely to get measles, though the vaccine is not always effective and there can be cases of measles in fully vaccinated children. However, measles is a surprisingly benign illness with serious complications being relatively rare. Vitamins A & C help our bodies fight measles so taking those will reduce risk of complications.See http://tinyurl.com/mwn6sf8 ...Read more

Can my 4 year old take cough medicine and tamiflu (oseltamivir) at the same time?Positive influenza test 4 days ago, lingering cough, fever free 48 hours.Contagious?

Yes, most: over-the-counter children's cough medications can be taken with Tamiflu, (oseltamivir) but the cough medication may not have any added benefit and will not shorten the course. If he/she is still coughing, I would consider him/her to still be somewhat contagious through those respiratory droplets released by the cough, although one is most contagious while the fever is there ...Read more

Are there lasting effects of h1n1 on an unborn baby? Had swine flu at 27 weeks, daughter was iugr. Severe speech apraxia, & high pitched squealing.

Are there lasting effects of h1n1 on an unborn baby? Had swine flu at 27 weeks, daughter was iugr. Severe speech apraxia, & high pitched squealing.

Possible.: I am sorry for your daughter's problems. One cannot be certain that they are due to h1n1 influenza during pregnancy - however, one cannot dismiss that possibility either. Many viruses cross the placenta and can affect various fetal tissues/organs. Other explanations for your daughter's problems should be investigated, namely metabolic, genetic and neurological syndromes unrelated to infections. ...Read more
