3 Day Fever In Child
13 m old kid had 3 day fever 98.8_99, then 2 days no fever. During this time he started cough with runny nose. His temperature is 98.8. Any concerns?
3 year old vomitting1 to 2 times a day for 3 days. Has diarrhea no fever light appetite. Plenty of fluids normal play, burn when peeing.
Sounds like your : Three yo has the stomach virus. Vomiting can be due to possible urinary tract infection and burning due to skin irritation and increase sensitivity from all the diarrhea. Need to see your pediatrician on monday if still symptomatic. You can apply maalox suspension if skin is excoriated/ irritated around the diaper area to promote faster healing and neutralize the acid environment. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Good day. My son still got 40.2 fever inspite of 3 paracetamol administered within the 24 hours. I'm putting cold towel in the forehead. Is this ok?
Use tepid water: To help with decreasing discomfort, many things have been tried including using cold water clothes. As fever is an important way the body releases heat, cold water can actually make fever worse by triggering chills. Better to use warm/tepid water (70 degrees). Be sure child stays hydrated too. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Does fever in children stay the same during the cold virus. My 3 year olds fever was 100.5 first 3 days and 102.5 the last 2. His congestion is better?
It cycles: Viruses are actually famous for having cyclic fevers, up one minute and gone the next. That's why schools have a 24 hour no-fever policy, since it can be difficult to tell if the illness is truly gone or if it's just in a "down cycle". As long as the fever responds 2-3 degrees to tylenol (acetaminophen) or Motrin and other symptoms are improving, he should be fine. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

My 7 yr old has had 3 bad headaches in 2 days with a temp of 37.4. He is eating well has energy. He took children's Advil (ibuprofen) today at 530pm ?
Our baby has had two total just wet diapers in the past three days and an average of 3 to 4 poopy/diarrhea diapers per day. She is very sleepy.
Dehydration: Less than 5 wet diapers in 24 hours in a baby is suggestive of dehydration, which babies do not tolerate well. If oral rehydration with an electrolyte solution does not increase urination frequency shortly, emergent evaluation by you physician or an emergency facility is in order. ...Read more
Infant waking in the middle of the night crying then vomiting several times. No fever. 3 months old. Appears alright after vomiting.?
Child with fever, heart racing 2 yr old daughter. Rectal fever 105. Third day with fever. During day she plays, seems fine. Been on steady doses of tylenol and motrim. Currently doing cold presses, popsicles. Should we be at er? Her heart rate was at 150.
Since : Since your child's temp is up around 105f, you should either call her doctor or go to the emergency room. Fevers for the most part aren't dangerous and are just the body's natural reaction to fighting off an infection. Most of these infections are viral and may be accompanied by runny nose, sore throat, congestion, mild rash, or nothing at all. Since fevers aren't dangerous, we usually treat the fever with Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen just to make the child more comfortable as their body fights the illness. "red flags" that we look for with fever to indicate something more serious is going on are: -fevers that last 5 days or more -fevers persistently above 104f orally or 105f rectally -a child that acts very sick - very irritable or difficult to wake -difficulty breathing -vomiting, diarrhea, refusal to drink, or dehydration -a purple rash, esp on the legs -stiff neck -any complaints of pain such as the ear, throat, stomach or a joint as always, use your judgement. If you think that your child is ill, err on the side of caution and call your child's doctor. ...Read more
Abx needed? 3 1/2 year old with 3 day fever spiking to 104 at nighttime s/p croup and subsequent otitis media. When to start abx?
When warrented: Fever by itself is not an indication for abx. Persistence of fever is an indication for a review of the history, thorough exam & testing if indicated. When evaluation finds a treatable condition, abx can be selected based on the agents suited for that finding and started immediately. ...Read more

Back to the doctor: A baby with bronchiolitis who is doing ok can be treated at home. One who is not doing so well may need hospitalization and oxygen therapy. If a baby seems not improving, or seems working harder to breathe, he needs to be seen by his pediatrician or the er again. What causes seizures at the age of 21 month in a boy child when his fever was only 100.9 degrees?
Febrile seizure: Febrile seizures are not dependent upon the height of the fever. You can have a febrile seizure at 100.9 derees, and you can not have one at a temperature of 104 degrees. As long as it is an uncomplicated seizure, just keep child well hydrated and get plenty of rest. Likely has more to do with which virus is causing the illness rather than the height of the fever. ...Read more
