I did 4th Generation HIV test after around 4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,14,15 weeks of an exposure. Is this 100% conclusive? can i get back safely to my wife

Sero-conversion: The whole concept of delayed sero-conversion dates back to old & sloppy tests. PCR testing now will show virus in the blood with or without antibodies. If you need to cling to the old adages...at 6 months..99.99% of the population will have developed antibodies after an exposure..thus the 6 month window. I believe a colleague of mine Lyssette Cardona, MD is in Dubai..she's one of the best!! ...Read more

Is 24 days HIV test good for result? if i tested negative on 24th day? do i need to retest?

Is 24 days HIV test good for result? if i tested negative on 24th day? do i need to retest?

Would retest: Most rapid HIV tests would be positive 4 to 6 weeks after HIV exposure. However some won't be positive for up to 3 months after exposure. If possible, I would ask whoever performed the test this question. If they are unsure, I would repeat the test 3 months after the exposure. ...Read more

How reliable (percentage of accuracy) of 4rd generation hiv test (duo test) at 14.5 day after exposure ? Thank you very much

How reliable (percentage of accuracy) of 4rd generation hiv test (duo test) at 14.5 day after exposure ? Thank you very much

Depends: It is accurate if positive. However, two weeks is too soon to rule out infection. At six months after exposure, get a HIV nucleic acid test, if that is negative, it would be definitive indication of being HIV free. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex. ...Read more

I been with my boyfriend for 3 yrs. He took an HIV test the other day which was negative, am i most likely negative as well. I am getting tested thurs?

Yes: Most likely you are negative. But if your partner of 3 years has decided to get an HIV test, it's a good idea to talk about why he's doing that. If there's been a potential HIV exposure, that's also an exposure to other sexually transmitted infections. So more than just HIV testing may be in order. ...Read more

I went for HIV test which is HIV 1/2 & p24 Combo test (CMIA) on 32 and 41 day of my last exposure, report says non reactive. Is this 100% conclusive?

I went for HIV test which is HIV 1/2 & p24 Combo test (CMIA) on 32 and 41 day of my last exposure, report says non reactive.
Is this 100% conclusive?

Nearly so: For a definitive answer you should get a HIV nucleic acid test done at 12 weeks after the exposure. If that is negative that will essentially rule out HIV infection. Even the combo test, if negative at 12 weeks would be strong evidence against the infection. ...Read more
